Italian diplomat

Paola Amadei is an Italian diplomat and the 12th European Union ambassador to Lesotho. She is the first female to hold the role since September 2021.

Career

She was the Italian ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain from January 2020 until September 16, 2021. From June 2018 to January 2020, she was head of Cabinet to the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs. Minister Plenipotentiary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome. She was the Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Eritrea from 2008-2011 and to Jamaica, Belize, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos and the Cayman Islands since January 2012.

Amadei was also the Italian ambassador to Oman from 24 September 2012 – 1 March 2016.
