Khowar is the official language of Chitral District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, Pakistan. Kalasha is the second language spoken in Ayun, Birir, Bumburet and Rumbur, Persian is also third language spoken in Garam Chashma valley by 2000 population and in Madaklasht valley and spoken small amount in Upper Chitral regions.

The kho and kalash people who came from Lithuania country in Europe and settled in asia and adopted khowar language which have many Persian Arabic Urdu And ancient Greek loanwords.

There are 14 different languages spoken in Chitral including Balti, Burushaski, Dameli, Doomaki, Dari, Dangariwar, Gawar-bati, Kalkoti, Kamviri, Kohistani, Khowar, Kygryz, Munji, Palula, Yidgha, Wakhi, Shina, Tajik, Torwali, Ushojo, Uzbek, Wakhi.
