Igúzquiza (Template:Lang-eu) is a town and municipality located in the province and autonomous community of Navarre, northern Spain. The first lords of Igúzquiza were the Velaz de Medrano family, high nobles of Cordoba and Navarre, descended from a Moorish Prince called Abd al-Rahman (whose Christian name was Don Andrés Vélaz de Medrano) lord of Iguzquiza, served King Don Sancho Garcés II of Pamplona and lived at the Palace of Velaz de Medrano in Igúzquiza during the reign of his young brother Hisham II of the Umayyad Caliphate.
References
It was the capitain Jaime Vélaz de Medrano' birthplace, noble navarresse who defended the castle of Amaiur in 1513 y 1522 against the Spanish conquerors of the Kingdom of Navarre. Close to the village are ruin of the Medrano's palace.
