Ruth Jones (born circa 1966 at Porthcawl, Wales) is a bilingual character actress perhaps best known for her performances in British comedy series and films.

She was educated at Porthcawl Comprehensive School (where she knew Rob Brydon) and the University of Warwick, graduating in 1988 with a BA in Theatre Studies and Dramatic Arts. She was a member of the National Youth Theatre of Wales during her adolescence, where she appeared in As You Like It. Having trained as an actress at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, she now lives in Cardiff.

Jones was first seen in the hit 1999 film East is East and appeared in four series of Fat Friends. However, she is probably most recognisable from the popular comedy series Little Britain, in which she appeared as Myfanwy, the lesbian barmaid at the Scarecrow and Mrs King pub in the Daffyd Thomas sketches.

Her other television credits include Human Remains, Nighty Night, Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years, Tales from the Pleasure Beach, Saxondale and I'm With Stupid. She also performs in Welsh in programmes such as Lolipop.

Jones has with fellow Welsh actor Debbie Moon, a radio play named The Cyhiraeth, as well as appearing in episodes of Fat Friends and Nighty Night which she also wrote. She is currently filming an original comedy series Gavin and Stacey for Baby Cow Productions, which she has cowritten with James Corden.
