New Page Reviewing

Hello, DaxServer.

I've seen you editing recently and you seem like an experienced Misplaced Pages editor.
Would you please consider applying to become a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Misplaced Pages policies and guidelines; currently Misplaced Pages needs experienced users at this task. But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. Dr vulpes 06:26, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

  • I've noticed that you've been doing really well with your CSD and PROD requests. I think you might really enjoy New Page Patrol. Come check the page out, we have a great training program running which I completed and really enjoyed. If you have any questions please feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Dr vulpes 06:27, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Bheemunipatnam revenue division (September 8)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Rollidan were: This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources. This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Misplaced Pages article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Misplaced Pages. The comment the reviewer left was: This does not pass the general notability guideline. Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved. Request on 16:22:44, 12 September 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Iam1947

My contribution has independent references from leading publishing websites in the world, yet you keep disapproving it. It is a valid ngo with global outreach and body of work. Could you please check it. It merits to be on wikipedia.

Iam1947 (talk) 16:22, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello @Iam1947. Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Re the article, it is evaluated on the lines of WP:NGO guidelines. From the references, I only see passing mentions of the FFOP in articles about the workshop and other announcements. They are not considered "significant coverage in multiple reliable sources that are independent of the organization". If you were to provide references that discuss about the NGO which are also independent publications from FFOP, then the article could merit. Hope this is clear. If not, please visit WP:TEAHOUSE where other experienced editors new editors with Misplaced Pages-related things! — DaxServer (t · m · c) 21:47, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks DaXServer, I have tried adding more references. These talk about the activities the NGO has undertaken and not about the NGO per se, a couple of these independent publications do cover the range of activities that were carried out under the aegis of FFOP. Shouldn't work be more important than the organization itself, especially when it is talked about by independent publications? Please see if you can review and I will visit the teahouse, thanks again. Iam1947 (talk) 06:28, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
@Iam1947 The references talk about the activities that the members of the NGO held. They don't say it's directly on behalf of the NGO. They would count as sources for that person, but not for the NGO. I see that you've resubmitted, so let's see how other reviewer evaluates — DaxServer (t · m · c) 08:21, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
I see you have a point, but the reports do say the NGO organised the training and dialogue. Great to have feedback as a young contributor. Thanks Iam1947 (talk) 11:47, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

Welcome back with a Barnstar

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I know I am 6 months late, but I've finally learnt the syntax for giving barnstars :P. Thank you for your painstaking efforts in saving Mbh related pages earlier this year from vandalism and an extensive cleanup. I know it was a hellish job but you still nailed it. Panchalidraupadi (talk) 19:59, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks you @Panchalidraupadi I hope my efforts were fruitful. However, I think those vandals are still on WP lying around and possibly screwing up some other topic. Only time will tell. We will be vigilant in the topics that we know about. Happy editing and see you around :) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 21:29, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
@DaxServer:You have been fruitful, but you're right about the vandals. Already found one, who is editing profusely in non-epic topics everyday, while making subtle inversion of content in select Mbh pages in favour of his hero. Will keep you posted. See you around too. :) Panchalidraupadi (talk) 10:15, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks @Panchalidraupadi.
Also, could you give me some recommendations for Mahabharata books that we could use for citations? There seems to be a lot of books but I'm not sure where to start. Thanks in advance 🙏 — DaxServer (t · m · c) 18:42, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
@DaxServer: For primary sources, we have K.M. Ganguli's translation of the non-critical Sanskrit text available online on sacred-text website, and the Critical Edition (translated in English by Bibek Debroy) which is not in public domain as of now. For secondary scholarly sources, there are tons, so it is difficult to pinpoint some. For Arjun and Karna, you can refer to "Arjun: the Double Hero" and "Karna: The Sanskrit Hero" both by Kevin Mcgrath. For Draupadi, Alf Hiltebeitel and Dr. Pradip Bhattacharya have done extensive research. For overall Mahabharata textual criticism, books by Vishnu Sukthankar such as "Prolegomena to the Adi Parva" and "On the Meaning of Mahabharata" will help. There are a gazillion papers, journals, books, etc which you can find online, but sometimes it is hard to extract the strictly scholarly ones. Let me know if you need help with any references or facts. - Panchalidraupadi (talk) 19:56, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Draft:Budugu film

My drafts are getting rejected left and right such as Draft:Mahankali (film). Since this article has no The Times of India review and no The Hindu review, I suggest not making it into an article. DareshMohan (talk) 17:10, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

@DareshMohan Would you be able to add more reception reviews to the Draft:Mahankali (film) if possible? — DaxServer (t · m · c) 21:47, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
Ok DareshMohan (talk) 22:00, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
