Additions from the Tennessee Encyclopedia
Hello,
You're welcome to contribute to Misplaced Pages articles, but please don't copy information word-for-word (or close to word-for-word) from other sources. The Tennessee Encyclopedia is an excellent source, but please summarize the information, rather than copying it directly. See Misplaced Pages's policy on copy-pasting, WP:COPYPASTE, for more information. BrineStans (talk) 20:06, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
Oak Ridge, Tennessee Seal
Hello. Just wanted to say thanks for reaching out to me about the Oak Ridge seal and that if there are any other seals you would like me to remove the background of I would be glad to do so. It definitely makes the articles look more professional, especially in the case of a place like Oak Ridge. It's easier to do when the images are already PNGs as they can have transparent backgrounds and I can upload a new version of the file but for Oak Ridge I had to upload a completely new file (OakRidgeSeal.png) as it was a jpg. No worries tough. Thanks, --CzarJobKhaya (talk)
CzarJobKhaya, Thank you for your assistance and your help. I find it very admirable that you find it compelling to edit more seals. It shows good character of a Wikipedian. With that in mind, I had just added the town seal of my hometown of Bean Station. The file (File:Bean StationTNSeal.jpg for copy/paste on Commons) was obtained from a sign of the town's park. The town used to have a website, but has since been deactivated. The file is a .jpg file so I apologize for that. Thanks, --AppalachianCentrist

Thaks for proofreading and copyediting the text I added to Grainger High School. Replaceable fair use File:Jerry Sexton official picture.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Jerry Sexton official picture.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Misplaced Pages. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:54, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Grainger County, Tennessee
With this edit at Grainger County, Tennessee, you added, "In its recent electoral history, the county has shown little competitiveness for Democratic and Independent candidates in local, state, and federal elections, mostly due the county's rural evangelical population". To support your edit, you cited this source. First, why did you add this text to "Grainger County" when the source states that the article is about Rutledge, Tennessee? Second, where does the source cited support your assertion that the area's voting behavior is due to its "rural evangelical population"? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 03:48, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
A second citation with support of the statement has been added. Cheers, --AppalachianCentrist (talk) 14:42, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- I have reverted your edit, as your conclusion was a WP:SYN not supported by either source. I'm cautioning you again to stop adding unsourced content to articles. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:59, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:2018 Bean Station Sewer Master Plan.jpeg
A tag has been placed on File:2018 Bean Station Sewer Master Plan.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Question
Have you ever edited Misplaced Pages using any other account? Are any of those accounts still blocked? – bradv🍁 16:09, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- No, why do you ask?
- I'm asking because I think you have a few previous accounts that were blocked for vandalism, disruption, and other silly things. And this looks like a return to that sort of behaviour. And we wouldn't want that. – bradv🍁 16:31, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- This is my only account, I’ve never had any others.

Rodney Atkins Photo deletion
Hi, I noticed that you deleted a photo of Rodney Atkins twice from the Wiki article about Walters State Community College. Since Atkins is an alumnus of the college, and his name is listed there, it makes perfect sense for there to be a photo of Atkins there, and it would be an enhancement to the article if there were accompanying photos of as many of the school's alumni as possible. (As opposed to “vandalism” which you gently implied in your edit summary- a bit harsh, no?) As I already wrote in the edit summary, there are many institutions of higher learning in Misplaced Pages that have sections for alumni with photos. Here are a few examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/Pacific_Union_College#Alumni https://en.wikipedia.org/Yale_University#Notable_alumni_and_faculty https://en.wikipedia.org/University_of_California,_Berkeley#Alumni https://en.wikipedia.org/Columbia_University#Notable_people and there are many, many more. I wonder if you would agree to kindly revert the deletion of the photo that was on the Walters State Community College page. I would really appreciate it. Newspapers.com
Do you have a subscription to Newspapers.com? If so, when citing an article, it is best to take a clipping of the article, and paste the clipping url into the |url=
parameter. That way it will be visible to everyone, and lets other users know where it came from. If the article is split between two pages, it is best to take clippings of both pages, and link the second clipping in the |page=
parameter. An example of this can be found at Interstate 40 in Tennessee#cite note-18. Don't forget to include the page number and |via=Newspapers.com
. I prefer to use the page number as presented on the page itself; sometimes this is inconsistent with the page numbers Newspapers.com lists. Bneu2013 (talk) 04:55, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

Photos
I noticed on this photo you added to the Commons that it was created through a "Direct message between author for aerial photos of area". I assume the photographer is this person. Let me get this straight, you requested a commercial photographer take a photo of Bean Station so you could upload it to this Misplaced Pages article? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:03, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
The photographer does free work when he is traveling, since it is free, it is not prioritized since it is unpaid. Dandridge, Tennessee
Please explain how that uninteresting and shoddily cropped image is preferable to the one that was already present. BrineStans (talk) 20:27, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
That “shoddily cropped” picture is at 16:9 landscape ratio. That is a standard photo ratio for landscapes such as urban ones such as the “downtown” area or rural mountainous ones. Uninteresting is subjective, some may find interest in the downtown brick and mortar set up of towns and cities, and those are often the representative photo(s) in a municipality’s infobox. The picture you are suggesting is “better” shows little of the town in its best view. The town hall is seen from its back side, the downtown area is not visible at all, and the courthouse is obstructed by power poles. The lighting on the picture is not appealing as well.
Thanks, --AppalachianCentrist (talk) 20:36, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by "the town," but everything in my image is located in the town, and includes some of its best-known downtown structures from an elevated perspective. The lighting issues are due to your monitor settings, not the image itself. The picture you're replacing it with shows a narrow sweep of single street, with the lone visible block skewing awkwardly toward the center. BrineStans (talk) 20:55, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Is this picture any better? It shows the downtown district and the county courthouse.
Thanks, --AppalachianCentrist (talk) 21:33, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Interstate 81
Hello, I believe it was you who added the information about I-81 having been originally planned to follow US 11W, but rerouted due to the influence of Herbert S. Walters. The current sources do not mention Walters by name, but one of them (an opinion article) mentions influence from Morristown, and the other NIMBYism from the US 11W corridor. Do you know of any other sources that have any information about this? So far, I have not been successful in finding anything about this via newspaper searches.
