Saverio "Sammy" Santora was a high ranking member of the Genovese crime family, one of the five major Mafia factions in New York City.
In the late 1970's, Santora took over as Capo of Antonio "Buckaloo" Ferro's powerful East Harlem 116th Street Crew. Santora quickly became one of the most powerful captains in the family. The crew was involved in illegal gambling, bookmaking, loan sharking, heroin trafficking and labor racketeering, specifically in the NYC District of Carpenters.

Vincent "Chin" Gigante and Santora were the prime candidates to become Boss, being two of the most respected and influential members of the family.
