He was born James Travis Tritt on 9 February 1963 in Marreitta, Georgia to James and Gwen Tritt. He has one sister named Trisha.

At age 3, he received his first guitar from his father. Since then, he's taught himself to play and has grown into one of Country Music's finest musicians and vocalists.
