Jaime Camil (born Jaime Federico Said Camil de Saldaña da Gama on July 22, 1973 in Mexico City, Distrito Federal) is a Mexican actor and singer.

Biography

The son of a Mexican businessman of Egyptian descent and a well-known Brazilian singer, Jaime Camil began as a radio commentator on Radioactivo 98.5. He later made his small-screen debut as a host in El show de Jaime Camil in 1995. He continued as a host in Qué nochecita con Jaime Camil (1996) and Operación Triunfo (2002). In 1999, he released his first album Para Estar Contigo, which took him to major cities in Mexico, South America, and the United States. After participaing in Tributo a las Víctimas del 9/11 (2001), Jaime Camil released his second album, titled "Una Vez Más".

Jaime Camil later decided to join in the telenovela industry, where he made his debut in Mi destino eres tú (2000). He debuted in the film Delfines in 1997, but it wasn't until 2003 when film producers noticed his talent in acting. He starred in three different films in just a year; Puños rosas (2003), Zapata (2004) and 7 días (2005). In 2004, Jaime Camil also participated in the play Barrera de amor as well as starring in the telenovela Mujer de madera, in which he played "Cesar Linares". In 2005, the play Los reyes del mambo premiered in the Broadway. His most recent role was in the comedy telenovela La fea más bella (2006) and is currently filming A propósito de Alexa in Ensenada, Baja California.

Jaime Camil is the producer and spokesman of the Mexican ShortShorts Film Festival as of 2006 .
