Grand Trunk Western 5632 is a class K-4b 4-6-2 "Pacific" type steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1929 for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad.
History
Grand Trunk Western 5632 was constructed by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1929 and it was delivered to the Grand Trunk Western Railroad that same year in 1929. 5632 was the first member of the class K-4b being numbered 5632-5634. The K-4b locomotives were copies of the USRA Light Pacific steam locomotives, with the only difference between the K-4b and the Grand Trunk Western's previous 4-6-2s known to be the class K-4a, was that the K-4a locomotives were built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO), but the K-4b locomotives were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and had an all-weather cab.
5632 had served well on the Grand Trunk Western Railroad until it was retired in 1960 when the GTW began to dieselize their lines. 5632 was later donated to the city of Durand, Michigan in 1961, where it was placed on static display and it has remained on display at the city of Durand, Michigan ever since and remains as the only surviving member of the class K-4b, as well as the only surviving copy of the USRA Light Pacific.
