Malhotra (Hindī: मलहोत्रा) is a surname originating from the Indian region of Punjab, common in Sikh and Hindu families. Malhotra were initially of the Kshatriya caste, however many modern Malhotras have taken up only the trade and mercantile businesses and are considered, within the system of varnas, to be Vaishya in that respect.

Many Malhotras have converted to Islam in the past, particularly during the period of Islamic invasion of the Indian subcontinent, they are now called Punjabi Shaikhs. The name is very common and thus many with this surname have eventually gone to many achievements in life.
