LimeWire is a free but no longer (Limewire.com open source, released under the GNU general public license, Gnutella peer-to-peer network client. It is written in Java, and hence runs on any computer with Java installed. The program allows users to share files using the Gnutella peer-to-peer protocol.

LimeWire is commercial software created by LimeWire LLC. LimeWire and another Gnutella client, BearShare, have been the two leading products driving Gnutella protocol development after the Gnutella Developers Forum was founded by Clip2's Kelly Truelove.

LimeWire is available in two versions: a basic, free version, and an enhanced version sold for a small fee.
