Yes, we should know better at coming between rabid cricket fans and their work... ;) I tried to nip this whole fiasco in the bud very early on. But by then a link to the death article had somehow been added to ITN and several editors were camped out on the death article (A lot of whom, I bet, don't realise that it was a copy and paste job from the original article). This whole thing has been done backwards, the fork should be the last thing we consider not the first. Oh well it doesn't matter, other than some minor inconveniences over the two targets for editors instead of one, the outcome will be the same in the end - we'll either have one article with a small death section or two articles if the story of the death becomes a saga. And yes, some people are carrying on as if this is a deletion proposal lol | Yes, we should know better at coming between rabid cricket fans and their work... ;) I tried to nip this whole fiasco in the bud very early on. I suspect a lot of this kind of thing is encouraged by how ITN currently works. A lot of people are creating throw away stubs of many news reports they see in an effort to get "their article" mentioned on the main page. There's a lot of this going on. Almanac-style sports result articles which are little more than a scoreboard, similar election result stubs, news flash stubs of minor subsets of larger issues that should be included on their parent article. An encyclopedia shouldn't be just lists, facts and figures. It should present a more holistic discussion of topics. This is all adding up to the 1.7+ million quantity over quality articles we have on en.wp. */rant* ;) --] 03:43, 30 March 2007 (UTC) | I suspect a lot of this kind of thing is encouraged by how ITN currently works. Flyguy ain't a fly guy
- (This is regarding the vandalism4im warning on User talk:Sonenshin on 9 March 2007. Flyguy649contribs 00:50, 16 March 2007 (UTC) )
Wow youre so fly. Waving your finger to strangers on wikipedia really makes you look masculine. Great job! --Sonenshin 00:08, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- You left this edit with the Edit Commentary, "I verbally abused Mjcooj2000." on User talk:Mjcooj2000. I gave you a vandalism4-immediate warning for the severity of this attack. You attacked Mjcooj2000 for leaving this edit on Jessica Simpson (which I reverted). While that user's comment was vandalism, he/she was warned (with vandalism2). Your comment wasn't appropriate, or civil, or even slightly over-the-top. It was blatant and profane, and I stand by the warning I gave you. Please play nice. Regards, Flyguy649contribs 00:50, 16 March 2007 (UTC).

You take yourself way to seriously. If you have the time to find my small humorous edit about Coors light and immediately delete it you must be one cool guy with an exciting social life. Ketchup chips
Why would u change the ketchup chips page? That was uncalled for. Its a part of Canadian culture.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nickmoe (talk • contribs) 17:45, March 17, 2007 (UTC)
- I also left a related comment at Talk:Ketchup chips. I disagree that it was uncalled for; ketchup chips are already mentioned in Potato chips. And that they are a part of Canadian culture alone does not mean that it warrants an article. That said, if you feel strongly that Ketchup chips deserve their own article, feel free to write one. Just please be sure to cite sources and not add silly things like this or this. See also Misplaced Pages:Contributing to Misplaced Pages#Create new articles and links therein for more advice. Hyperemesis gravidarum
I was wondering why you felt it was appropriate to delete the link to the HG information I provided for people who suffer from hyperemesis gravidarum. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Whining puker (talk • contribs) 19:18, March 17, 2007 (UTC)
- Because it's a link to a book, therefore it's advertising a product or service, and is a link to be avoided. The policy is to remove such links. I have just reverted your addition again. Regards, Flyguy649contribs 19:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
So are you telling me that the free pamphlet on how to help a sufferer with HG can't be shared on Wiki because an ad appears on the website? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whining puker (talk • contribs) 19:43, March 17, 2007 (UTC)
- It's not just a link to a free pamphlet. It's a link to a website for the book Beyond Morning Sickness; the link to the pamphlet is available on that site. Since the HG article is about HG in general, and not the book, I feel that linking to the book's webpage is not appropriate; it advertises the book. That said, that is my opinion. I think we should see what other editors think. Do you agree? Flyguy649contribs 20:27, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Not necessary. I read through the links you included, and based on Wiki's guidelines, you're absolutely right. I'm new to Wiki and was just trying to help people (who suffer from HG) find relevant information. But, even though it's a great resource for HG sufferers, and even though there is free information there, it IS a book ad overall! Thanks for your help. —The preceding comment is by Whining puker (talk • contribs) 20:49, March 17, 2007: Please sign your posts!.
Removed
Hello, Can i ask why my article on keeping and breeding Drosophila has been removed? Thanks in advance. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.13.28.6 (talk) 21:36, 17 March 2007 (UTC).
- Hi there. The link you have added to many pages (e.g. ) is a link to a site that sells these insects, thus it is promoting a commercial venture and not allowed (see here). The article may be interesting, but if anyone wants to learn how grow raise insects, they can do a websearch (see WP:NOT#INDISCRIMINATE). Regards, Flyguy649contribs 22:15, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
It really isn't...infact I rarely sell insects or have any in stock. I have developed the website into more of an information database, than a store, as you can probably see for yourself.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.13.28.6 (talk • contribs) 11:02, March 18, 2007 (UTC)
Orange Box.
Good idea; in fact, I should design something similar to it, and then suggest it as a new template. It could be handy to have on talk pages. It's easy to see, and it's not irritating at all. Acalamari 17:56, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Accident
I want to draw your attention to the fact that a recent edit you made to Misplaced Pages talk:Administrator intervention against vandalism apparently resulted in the page being reverted to an earlier version, with all recent discussions being erased (see diff). I am going to assume good faith from your side, and mark the edit off as an accident. Please be more careful in the future. CounterFX 22:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
My reply to this post is here
- I'm sorry about the formality of the tone in my previous post, but day after day of vandal-fighting tends to make one frigid even in cases where the good intention is obvious. Actually, something very similar (article being inadvertently reverted to a past version) had just happened to me here; I used the section edit feature but ended up distorting the entire page's content. Maybe we should drop a note to the developers if it happens again. CounterFX 09:36, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- No worries. I'd rather know about anything I do that screws up than have people seething quietly. (Like that ever happens). I'll keep an eye open for other inadvertent screw-ups. Cheers! Flyguy649contribs 12:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Flyguy, I tried to revert some vandalism on an article, Auto destruct (Star Trek). I left a note on the user's talk page. Is that all that needs to be done. Any advice you can offer will be appreciated. Thanks. Danmartin26 21:04, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Whyalla High School
My name is Nathan Taylor, I am the Computer Technician and Network Administrator at Whyalla High School. I have made a page for Whyalla High School and uploaded pictures and the pictures and content is deleted. I get messages saying that my content was deleted because of copyright issues, but how can that be when i created it in the first place. Im only posting stuff that i have typed or photos i have taken/scanned from school magazines. Since im the creator of the Whyalla High School website i have been given access to all resources. Could you please stop deleting the things i post. Thanks

To change the instructions a change must be made to Misplaced Pages:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism/instructions. This page is protected to avoid abuse, but you can use the talk page for suggested additions. InBC 21:57, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Turok's back
Hello; I'm one of the editors of Solar System, which, despite your indefinite block, Turok still seems intent on vandalising. Is there anything we can do to prevent him from creating another account and using it to get around blocks? Serendipodous 19:16, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not an admin, so the block wasn't mine. I did revert some edits. I am watching Solar System to look for future problems. You can ask for page protection at WP:RFPP, and you can explain the incidents at WP:ANI. You may want to do both. A semi-protection on the page will stop IPs and newly created accts from vandalising. The ANI notice may get some better suggestions from some admin. Cheers, Flyguy649contribs 19:33, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help! I really hope we can get this guy off the board. Serendipodous 19:44, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Let me know if there's anything I can do. I don't have much experience at dealing with these sorts of things, but there's always time to learn. Serendipodous 13:41, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Commentary deletion at Talk:Death of Bob Woolmer
Hi Flyguy649. Sorry about that. I wasn't even aware that I had deleted anything!! Even now I can't see how this might have happened. Glad you reverted though. Dave Smith 21:16, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Woolmer protection template
- Note: this in reply to a message here. Flyguy649contribs 21:24, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
LOL I think I should go to bed. I was cleaning up the merge templates on Bob Woolmer when I came back to check that it had saved (after a "database is locked" message) I thought I'd accidentally removed the template on top. So I cut and pasted the top line from my text editor. Turns out I came back to the tab I had Death of Bob Woolmer open in. NIGHT! --Monotonehell 21:22, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Convent of the Visitation
ahem.. Its not an all girls school. Had your read what I wrote thoroughly , it is co-ed through grades K-6. I went there. Every male alumni I know have agreed that the school is unbelievably sexist. I felt that the criticism section would be a legitimate contribution, yet you disagree. I respect your decision to remove the section but I have yet to find a reason. The post wasn't graffiti of any kind. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mastershake329 (talk • contribs) 04:08, March 25, 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I removed it because it was unsourced, as the warning says. I actually came across your addition while reverting someone else's vandalism. Yes, I missed the co-ed K-6 part. However, it is still unsourced. Flyguy649contribs 04:15, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
hey...
just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry I added those silly messages to random pages before. I've been unblocked and I've promised only to make good contributions in the future...sorry for wasting your time before, I just got carried away with how cool it was that I could actually change it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Letsdothis (talk • contribs) 04:53, March 25, 2007 (UTC)
Turok 1? Turok 19?
Turok 19 is a sock of Turok 1, not the other way around. Or so I believe... —physicq (c) 05:42, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Currently, Turok 1 has Turoks 01-18, and Turok 19 has the rest. It seems illogical that Turok 1 is the sock and Turok 19 is the master. So, I guess for the sake of easy reference, we tag them all Turok 1. Even Turok 19 states 1. —physicq (c) 05:45, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, it doesn't matter. Just as long as we don't start making a lame edit war out of this for the Turoks to mock.

Hiya 'Flyguy649'.
- re: Rule the Seas
Is my page more informative and less advertising than before? Forgive me for being a man of few words. Bruza 06:35, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry I couldn't reply earlier. I took a quick peek while I was at work, but I didn't have time to respond then. I notice that it has since been deleted as a copyright violation. My impression of the article was that although it was no longer an advertisement, it was still not a very encyclopedic article. Remember, that is only my opinion. Please, don't get frustrated by all this. I suggest that you take some time to look at the guidelines for writing an article, and perhaps also the welcome page. I'd be happy to answer further questions if you have them. Regards, Flyguy649contribs 05:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
