Wiki - Rodney - Wiki method for reducing incidence of copywrite infringement using LLM
I've been experimenting with ways to reduce copywrite infringement when using large language models (e.g., GPT-4) to draft Misplaced Pages articles. A process that shows promise is:
1. Feed the combined texts of all of the references into a large language model (LLM) that has a large enough token limit, such as GPT-4 32k, so that it can read in all of the text and draft the article. For an example of the output of this first step, see User:Nowa/Floyd wiki 1. The corresponding file of with the reference texts is User:Nowa/Floyd RS. Unfortunately, this example wiki 1 version has a one or more copyright violations. See User talk:Nowa/Floyd wiki 1
2. Instruct the LLM to redraft the wiki 1 article in a style very different from Misplaced Pages. In this case the style was used for the redraft was that of the comedian Rodney Dangerfield. See User:Nowa/Floyd Rodney for how it turned out. The article was completely rewritten so that there were no copyright violations that I could see. The tone of the article, however, was no longer encyclopedic.
3. Instruct the LLM to rewrite the "Rodney" version of the article back into the style of Misplaced Pages. See User:Nowa/Floyd wiki Rodney wiki for how this turned out. This version appears to be free of copywrite violations, has an encyclopedic tone, and has information supported by the references. It has somewhat less information than the original wiki 1 version of the article, but subsequent editors can add more detail from the RS if needed.
I welcome candid comments on this method including possibilities for improving it. Nowa (talk) 12:18, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- It seems the final draft still suffers from WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASE: from https://www.forbes.com/sites/brianbushard/2023/08/26/who-is-harrison-floyd-trump-co-defendant-and-black-voices-for-trump-leader-still-in-fulton-county-jail/:

- Also: please be aware that New York Post is an unreliable source. Phlsph7 (talk) 07:27, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Argh, you are rights. Too close of a paraphrase. Really intriguing actually. My personal experience is that if I read a sentence, and then write what I think I read, it rarely, if ever, comes out the same. LLMs, on the other hand seemed to be sucked into repeating exactly what's in their input. Makes me wonder if this property might be used to detect LLM output? But in the meantime, I'll have to give more thought to minimizing close paraphrase.
- Right now in my sandbox you can see the result of first drafting in Japanese and then translating into English. Some progress, but still close paraphrasing. Also, the quotes for RS were slightly modified.

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Nowa/Strang
A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Nowa/Strang, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Misplaced Pages to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Your submission at Articles for creation: Debbie Dooley (November 5)
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by WikiOriginal-9 was: This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Misplaced Pages article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Misplaced Pages. The comment the reviewer left was: Not enough significant coverage in independent sources Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Debbie Dooley and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Misplaced Pages's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
Hello, Nowa! Having an article draft declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. "There is consensus that Ad Fontes Media and their Media Bias Chart should not be used in article space in reference to sources' political leaning or reliability. Editors consider it a self-published source and have questioned its methodology." Doug Weller talk 14:25, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi, you can’t create an article using GPT 4 and then put it into article space with so many missing citations. Thriley (talk) 17:12, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. I added references where you indicated. Thanks for that. I also clarified on the talk page that I rewrite the output of GPT4. I'm providing notice so other editors will know that GPT4 was involved in the process. Nowa (talk) 17:28, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. I think the lead needs work. It’s generally best to make the lead a short summary of the body of the article. This lead is quite top heavy. Thriley (talk) 17:50, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Nowa (talk) 17:57, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- I think there is more to add. The lead said he played a pivotal role in the Hunter Biden laptop saga, but the body of the article doesn’t say much about it. Thriley (talk) 21:43, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- agreed. I'll look for more RS. Nowa (talk) 22:26, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
