Alt-med and COI
I am a retired acupuncturist. The alt-med part of my life is over now and I earn income outside of alt-med. For reference, here are my pre-retirement comments:
Some editors have suggested that simply having an alt-med profession automatically confers a conflict of interest (COI) when editing articles about one's profession. Community consensus (per this RfC, in which I was flattered to be much-discussed) is that this is not the case. In the words of one of the closing admins: "The result of the RfC was that an alt-med practitioner does not have a COI just because of the fact of them being an alt-med practitioner."
For a good summary of what COI is and isn't, see WP:EXTERNALREL and the immediately following section WP:COINOTBIAS, which I discussed in my old (pre-RfC) COI statement.
