Rivendell is an Elven outpost in Middle-earth (see The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien). It is the home of Elrond, the Lady Arwen, and other elves. It is also referred to as 'The Last Homely House'.
Frodo and his Hobbit companions journey to Rivendell for the Council that will decide the fate of the One Ring, where they meet with Bilbo Baggins who retired there after his adventures in The Hobbit.
