Don Murphy is an American film producer best known for Natural Born Killers.
Career
He is the originating producer of the upcoming Transformers film for which he attended the Toronto TransformersCon in 2006.
As of 2005, Murphy's AngryFilms was set to produce an adaptation of We3, a DC Comics miniseries, for New Line Cinema; Susan Montford and Rick Benattar are also named in Variety reports.
Personal life
His then-partner, Jane Hamsher, wrote a book about their turbulent process making that film called Killer Instinct. Murphy is a graduate of Chaminade High School and Georgetown University (graduating from the McDonough School of Business in 1985) as well as the USC School of Cinema-Television.
On October 22, 1997 Quentin Tarantino got into an altercation with Murphy at a Hollywood restaurant because of remarks made in the book Killer Instinct, which were attributed to Murphy . Murphy had originally not planned to launch charges, but filed an assault and battery suit on November 14, 1997 for $5,000,000 against Tarantino after Tarantino spoke of "bitch-slapping" Murphy on The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show. According to Murphy the two have long since reconciled and put the incident behind them .
He is married to filmmaker Susan Montford.
