"Pantropiko" is a song recorded by Filipino girl group Bini. It was released as the second pre-release single of their debut extended play (EP), Talaarawan, on November 17, 2023.
Background and release
Following the positive reception garnered by Bini's previous single "Karera", Star Magic announced "Pantropiko" as the group's second pre-release single to promote their EP Talaarawan. The song, alongside an accompanying performance video, was released on November 17, 2023.
Composition
"Pantropiko" is three minutes and 45 seconds long. The song is set in common time with a tempo of 95 beats per minute and written in the key of B. It has been described as a "summer bubblegum pop anthem", with influences from African, Latin, and Caribbean music. The track was produced by Mat Olivades and Jumbo De Belen and composed by Olivades, De Belen, Angelika Ortiz, and Paula Patricia Chavez.
Commercial performance
A few months after its release, "Pantropiko" gained massive virality on TikTok, spawning countless dance challenge videos, which led to the song's rapid rise on domestic music charts. On February 11, the song entered the Philippine edition of Spotify Charts' Daily Top Songs at number 173, before topping the chart on April 18. With the momentum of the song's success, coupled with the release of Talaarawan on March 8, Bini achieved the milestone of becoming Spotify's highest-streamed female OPM artist, as well as the Filipino P-pop group with the most monthly listeners.
Five months after the song debuted, "Pantropiko" also peaked at number one on the Billboard Philippines Songs Chart for the week of April 27, 2024, marking Bini as the first P-pop group in history to top the chart.
