== Onam and islam - small section ==

I find that recent comments by few religious leaders, which kerala as a whole took it as communal and non secular , should not be given weightage in Misplaced Pages here. so i find it is non sense to add all those jargons in the article.

You can find the artcile here: https://www.deccanchronicle.com/nation/current-affairs/160919/to-celebrate-or-not-to-celebrate.html

"There is no legal text compatible to this produced even after five centuries from the region, but some preachers with the influence of Arab cultural Islam and its wide influence in the various realm create commotions through unexpected comments against Onam celebrations of Muslim communities. The idea of branding of other cultures as un-Islamic was introduced as part of ‘reform’, but now it silently lingers even the tongue of traditionalists."

These are comments passed by one or two islamic preachers and never to be considered the view point of all Muslims of Kerala. They have rejected these as seen from the artcile.

The religious organization of muslims in kerala , which represent 95% of muslims in kerala are : Sunni organizations (AP or EK).

These organizations never said 'officially' any comment on onam. Usually it is through fatwa muslims organizations declare their views.

Mere communal comments of some communal leaders cannot be considered as a mass view and never to be the part of wikipedia or its articles.

Also found the separate artcle 'onam and Muslims' nonsense

Mention the relation to harvest in "significance" section.

While the current version of this page delves into the details of the mythical stories associated with Onam (the more popular story of Mahabali and his homecoming, as well as the less popular story of Parasurama), it mentions next to nothing about Onam also being a harvest festival. Terms like "Onakkoythu" and the many Onam songs with the focus on "poove" & "poli" instead of any mythical stories indicate that Onam was also celebrated as a harvest festival (or that the harvest/cultural aspects mixed together with the religious aspects over time). 134.96.82.140 (talk) 15:23, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Move content of "Onam and Islam" to "Cultural Festival" section instead of a separate section.

A separate section for "Onam and Islam" is unnecessary (except for religious fanatics from either sides who want to propagate their narratives). In any case, at the very least, move the content of this section to the already existing section "Cultural Festival" which should be discussing all cultural aspects of the festival across all communities? 134.96.82.140 (talk) 15:29, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

The need for a standalone article was high and hence the cultural section will not be able to contain it in detail. Also, the connection between Islam and Onam goes back to almost more than a century. Hence, it is to be done as a seperate article and a section summarizing the article per Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style, Misplaced Pages:Notability and Misplaced Pages:Reliable sources. Thanks.
