::::::Agree, lion is not a mainstream mount. Also, Garuda is primarily the vahana of Vishnu, not Lakshmi. Suggest restricting in the infobox to owl and elephant, which are mainstream vahanas. Children of lakshmi

Yes it is mentioned in srisuktam rigveda that bhagvati lakshmi has 18 sons. In southern part of india karthikey is called son inlaw of vishnu lakshmi because he married amrithvalli and sundatavalli daughter of vishnu lakshmi reborn as devasena valli . kamadeva is son of lakshmi mentioned in hari vamsa further he was reborn to rukmini krishna who were lakshmi vishnu in dwapar yug 2409:4073:215:8D15:0:0:1884:50B1 (talk) 09:13, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

Incarnation (Query)

Do we require separate refs for the combined list of the incarnations when almost all the wikipages mentioned in the list have the refs attached (on their respective pages) which supports the claim of them being the incarnation of Lakshmi. Also, the incarnations mentioned in the list with no wikipages of their own, already have the supportive refs attached. Kridha (talk) 11:47, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Yes. Other articles change. Skyerise (talk) 11:57, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
@Skyerise Thanks. In that case, I'll add the refs for every individual incarnation. Kridha (talk) 12:03, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
Sounds good. They probably should be sorted either alphabetically or chronologically while you're at it. Skyerise (talk) 12:05, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Children

Please change “some Purans” to various Purans. 2601:205:457C:CD00:DD7:B416:1235:DE49 (talk) 02:42, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Only Brahmanda Purana mentions it, they are not mentioned in mainstream Puranas like Vishnu Purana, Bhagavata Purana, Matsya Purana, etc. Seyamar(245CMR) 13:02, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Lion and Elephant as Lakshmi's mount

I don't think that Lion and elephant are Lakshmi's mount and even if they are mentioned as her mount in one or two texts; I think only mainstream things should be mentioned in the infobox. I changed that but a user started a literal edit-war over this small issue, so I had to start a discussion on the talk page. @Dāsānudāsa @Seyamar @Chariotrider555 what do you all think? Hbanm (talk) 17:42, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

The same debate occurred few years back (see "Lead" discussion of ) in which I was involved. I was not in favour of putting lion in the lead, but somehow the other user did it anyways. Also, Elephant should be retained, imo. Seyamar(245CMR) 17:55, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
I do not know about mounts, but Lakṣmī is sometimes depicted with two elephants by her side, called Gajalakṣmī as is mentioned in the body. Chariotrider555 (talk) 18:16, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
Alright, so can we remove lion and Garuda from the infobox? Garuda because I think infobox of the deities should be strictly about only themselves without involving their consorts. Mentioning Garuda as Lakshmi's mount is like mentioning bull as Parvati's mount or owl as Vishnu's mount just because they are their consort's mount. Although elephant is not her mount but is consistently depicted with her in iconography, so it can be retained as her mount. But Garuda and Lion should be removed from the infobox. @Chronikhiles @Redtigerxyz Hbanm (talk) 18:34, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
I strongly oppose the removal of Garuda from the infobox. While Lakshmi is often depicted on Garuda, Vishnu is never shown riding an owl, making this comparison invalid. Additionally, the inclusion of the ox in Parvati's infobox is appropriate, as it is frequently seen in various depictions, particularly in her Shailputri and Mahagauri forms. Seyamar(245CMR) 18:56, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
That's the point I'm trying to make. Infobox of the deities should be strictly about themselves without involving their consorts or their other forms, although these things can be mentioned in the body of the article. Also I never saw any individual depiction of Lakshmi on Garuda without her consort. Hbanm (talk) 19:07, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
I get it but there is no strict criteria that it should be strictly about themselves, if Lakshmi is prominently featured with Garuda (with or without her Vishnu), there should be no problem in that. Seyamar(245CMR) 19:20, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
Agree, lion is not a mainstream mount. Also, Garuda is primarily the vahana of Vishnu, not Lakshmi. Suggest restricting in the infobox to owl and elephant, which are mainstream vahanas. Other vahana associations can be covered in Iconography. Redtigerxyz 16:45, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
