History

Apna.co was founded in 2019, by Nirmit Parikh, to solve the challenges of job seekers in India.

In 2020, the company received its Series A investment, led by Peak XV Partners (Formerly Sequoia Capital India), and Lightspeed Partners India. This was followed by a Series B investment in 2021 from Insight Partners, Tiger Global Management, GSV Ventures, Rocketship, Owl Ventures, Maverick Ventures, and Greenoaks.

By mid-2021, the company had onboarded 16 million users, with 150,000 Indian businesses using it for recruitment and more than 18 million for job interviews.

Apna.co reached unicorn status within 21 months of its launch after a fundraising round by Tiger Global Management, expansion in the Indian job market.

Partnerships

According to reports, Apna.co has collaborated with public and government organizations in India, including the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the Ministry of Defence (India), UNICEF Yuwaah, and the Ministry of Minority Affairs, to provide skilling and job opportunities.

In April 2024, Apna.co partnered with The AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) to launch a career portal aimed at helping over 3 million students.The portal offers job listings, resume-building tools, and placement support for students from more than 12,000 colleges. It also includes the Silicon Valley Immersion Program, which connects students with industry leaders from companies such as Google, Apple, and Microsoft.

Apna Initiatives

On August 12, 2024, Apna.co, in collaboration with AICTE, concluded the Silicon Valley Immersion Program, selecting four students from XLRI Jamshedpur, WCE Sangli, and PEC Chandigarh. These students will travel to Silicon Valley to meet leaders from tech companies like Google, Apple, and Meta.
