Am I doing better?

Hi. I've been trying to act better and make better edits on Misplaced Pages, can you let me know if they're good? BananaBreadPie12 (talk) 18:52, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

Collateral damage

I keep getting mentioned in this and other related places. I have tried to stick up for myself on my talk page, culminating in this but am rather at a loss how to prove that this is nothing to do with me. Are you able to reassure me that the admin community has moved on from presuming that I am involved?

Thank you for any help or guidance that you can provide. ThoughtIdRetired TIR 17:03, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

As a WP:CHECKUSER, I am simply not permitted to tie IP addresses to accounts. Assuming that you are not engaging in WP:LOUTSOCK, probably the best advice I have for you is to state unequivocally that you do not edit while signed out and to encourage admins to block IP addresses without anon-only. That wouldn't rule out WP:MEAT but would significantly weaken any claim around WP:LOUTSOCK. Remember, most admins simply cannot see the technical evidence so have to make decisions based on behaviour. Even the technical evidence is never iron-clad, and it's more challenging when that isn't available. Note that I'm literally not permitted to say anything more based on technical evidence. Nobody reading this should take this to mean I am making any claim whatsoever about WP:LOUTSOCK in your case because I mean to make no claim whatsoever. --Yamla (talk) 17:48, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
OK, as usual, everything is more complicated than it first appears. What gets to me (got to me?) is that a proper analysis of behaviour should show that if I am in a dispute with anyone, I give reasoning to my position (perhaps, as a failing, at too great a length). I have been on the receiving end of abuse, but I don't think I have ever dished it out. That doesn't seem to be what this ip editor is doing.
Thanks for your answer. I am just going to carry on my normal editing activities as I reckon if anyone thought I had done anything wrong there would be something more substantial on my talk page by now. I think I have already made my position pretty clear and that has been willingly accepted by the other identifiable editor in this matter, the target of the ip editor's attack. (I might disagree with some of their editing, but I respect them as a person, despite the odd bump in the road.) ThoughtIdRetired TIR 19:59, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

Possible new DylanPuma20 sock

Noticed a possible sock of DylanPuma20 today, however their edits while close is not quite the same, and I'm uncertain if I should file an SPA. Jeffrey R. Clarktalkcontribs 23:40, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

I'm not sure that's quite enough. Looking at the editor interaction analyser, there's some overlap but not enough, either. If you see more overlap with earlier socks, I'd say that's enough to file. Especially when combined with the specific timeline of the prior block and the new account creation here. --Yamla (talk) 23:47, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
Yea, that's what I was thinking. I'll just keep an eye on them. This person is slowly learning to mask their edit's but tends to fall back into a clear pattern. Jeffrey R. Clarktalkcontribs 23:52, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Dubai Scripter

I don't think it matters much if they're a paid editor. They've got just over 50 edits and pretty much all of them are either direct personal attacks, in contravention of arbitration sanctions regarding the Israel / Palestine conflict or both. I don't think they'll be around for long. Simonm223 (talk) 13:38, 4 December 2024 (UTC)

Also a non-trivial number of deleted edits of a clearly promotional nature. --Yamla (talk) 13:50, 4 December 2024 (UTC)

I'll grab it and take a look later this afternoon. --Yamla (talk) 18:37, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
The CU evidence is strikingly clear. Let's see how she responds. I tried hard not to make anything a trick question. --Yamla (talk) 22:51, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
