At 00:45 a.m. on December 25, 2024, Christmas Day, a car was driven into four pedestrians along the wrong side of the road of Shaftesbury Avenue, Soho in Westminster, London, England, with one pedestrian left in critical condition.
A 31-year-old man named Anthony Gilheaney from Harlow, Essex was arrested as a suspect and charged with 4 counts of attempted murder. The Metropolitan Police stated that they were not treating the incident as terror-related and that the suspect was involved in an altercation at a nightclub prior to the attack.' He appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on two days after the attack on the 27th and is remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 24 January, 2025.
