Lee Herrick is an Korean American poet, writer, and professor who is currently serving as the California Poet Laureate. He is the first Asian American to hold the position.

Biography

Herrick was born in the year 1970 in Daejeon, South Korea. He was adopted at ten months old to parents in the United States. Herrick grew up in Modesto, California where he became interested in literature. Herrick served as the Fresno Poet Laureate from 2015-2017. While there he co founded LitHop, an annual literary arts festival in the city.
