Early Life
Sri P. Harishekaran was born on 21st August 1968 in Perambalur, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of late Sri M. Palanimuthu, an ex-MLA from the Perambalur Constituency, and the grandson-in-law of Sri Kakkanji, the first Home Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Education
He completed his Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, in 1989 and passed out with a gold medal. Later, he pursued his Master of Arts in History from Madras Christian College (MCC), Chennai, where he received another gold medal.
Career
Before joining the Indian Police Service (IPS), Harishekaran worked as a Customs Appraiser (1994 batch) in Chennai for two years, after which he joined the IPS in 1996. He underwent training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad. During his training, he served as Mess Secretary and Secretary of the Photography Association.
