Alex Germains is the lead singer and guitarist, as well as the co-songwriter and co-producer of The mountaineers. He was bass player in the band Echo and the Bunnymen from 2000-2001. He has also produced and remixed songs by other Liverpool bands, including The Cuckolds and 28 Costumes. He also worked in a call centre before being made redundant from 2006-2007.
