Fernanda Pinheiro Monteiro Torres (born 15 September 1965) is a Brazilian actress, writer, columnist, and screenwriter. As the daughter of acclaimed actors Fernanda Montenegro and Fernando Torres, she is celebrated as one of the most versatile Brazilian artists of her generation.
Her extensive career encompasses theater, film, television, and literature, demonstrating her talent for reinvention and her ability to engage diverse audiences.
Throughout her career, Fernanda has received numerous awards, including Best Actress at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival for Love Me Forever or Never. Her debut novel, The End, sold over 200,000 copies in Brazil and was translated into 7 other languages.
For her critically acclaimed performance in the drama film I'm Still Here (2024), Torres won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards and Critics Choice Awards Celebration of Cinema & Television for Best Actress – International Film, was nominated for the Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.

Debuting as an actress at thirteen, Fernanda's career spans more than four decades in theater, television and cinema.
At 16, Fernanda had her film debut in Inocência, by Walter Lima Junior. Alongside Walter Salles, Fernanda was met with critical acclaim for her roles in Foreign Land (1994), Midnight (1998) and I'm Still Here (2024). Fernanda received numerous awards in her career, including the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress prize in 1986 for the drama film Love Me Forever or Never by Arnaldo Jabor. In 2003, she wrote her first script for O Redentor (2004), with her brother Cláudio Torres.
In her long theatrical career, the monologue A Casa dos Budas Ditosos, based on the novel of the same name by João Ubaldo Ribeiro, debuted in 2003 reaching more than one million spectators.
On television, she acted in numerous popular comedy series, such as Os Normais and Tapas e Beijos, produced by TV Globo. As a presenter, she developed the project Minha Estupidez and Bicho Homem for television, and the podcast The Playlist Of My Life, as an interviewer and scriptwriter, on the Deezer platform.
In 2007, she began writing for newspapers and magazines as a columnist, publishing a weekly column in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo since 2010. In 2014, Fernanda released her first novel, The End, which sold more than 200,000 copies in Brazil and was translated into seven languages. In 2017, she published Glory and Its Litany of Horrors, both published by Cia. Das Letras. Fernanda adapted her first novel into a 10-chapter minisseries for Brazilian streaming service Globoplay.
Personal life
She is married to movie producer and director Andrucha Waddington, who directed her and her mother in the 2005 film The House of Sand. They have two sons together, Joaquim (b. 2000) and Antônio (born on April 10, 2008). She is also the stepmother of João (b. 1993) and Pedro (b. 1995).
