Tyreke Key is a former American collegiate basketball player. He currently plays for Raptors 905 in the NBA G League.

High school career

Born in Celina, Tennessee, Tyreke Key attended Clay County, graduating in 2017. During his senior year, he led the 18-3 Bulldogs to the finals of Tennessee’s Class A State Tournament, losing the Championship game 73-74 to Harriman. During his varsity career, the Bulldogs achieved a three year record of 58-8. He was selected for numerous All-Region, All-Conference and All-State teams. He was named the 2017 Class A Mr. Basketball after setting the Tennessee High School record for most points scored in a season, breaking a 25-year old record held previously by Kentucky legend Tony Delk and leading the state with 37.3 points per game. He set state tournament records for the most points in a game (54) as well as for the tournament (128); he also tied records for the most points in a quarter (23) and the most field goals for the tournament (44). Despite finishing as the State Runner-up, he earned state tournament MVP honors -- the first time that happened in Tennessee since 1996.

College career

After high school, Key attended Indiana State University. He played basketball under head coach Greg Lansing during the 2017-18 - 2020-21 seasons. Despite the Sycamores having average seasons, Key had an excellent career for the Sycamores. He finished as the #6 scorer in Indiana State history (1,650 points), #8 in 3-point goals. He led the team in scoring during his first three seasons and led the MVC during the 2018-19 season. Due to ISU not renewing Lansing's contract, Key mulled his future options and red-shirted during the 2021-2022 season under first year head coach Josh Schertz; he completed his collegiate eligibility with the 2022-23 Tennessee Volunteers. He started half of the season for the 25-11 Volunteers as they reached the Sweet Sixteen of the 2023 NCAA Tourney, losing in the Elite Eight to Florida Atlantic.

Professional career

Tyreke Key was not selected in the 2023 NBA Draft. However, he signed with the Leuven Bears for the 2023-24 season; he started all 34 games for the Bears, leading them to the ‘Elite Silver’ round of league play. While the Bears did not advance in the playoffs, Key did lead the BNXT League in scoring. His stellar play in Belgium led to a contract with the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League.
