Untuk Sahabatku is Rossa's second children's album, following Gadis Ingusan (1988). Released in 1990 with different cover art and song arrangements, the album's content remains largely the same as Gadis Ingusan (1989), with the exception of the addition of a minus-one version for the song "Untuk Sahabatku."

Background

After being reviewed by the team and distributed to the music market, the song Untuk Sahabatku was selected as the main single of the album, which also carried the same title. Subsequently, Pro-Sound Records produced a music video for promotional purposes, directed by the renowned director Sekar Ayu Asmara. The video was filmed on location at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol.

According to the album's producer, Budhy Paramita, this project was not intended to generate profit but rather to serve as a prestige project. He noted that, at the time, it was unprecedented for a children's singer to be supported by such accomplished musicians. Many musicians were astonished when they heard Rossa Rose's voice, describing it as both powerful and beautiful.

Rossa Rose is considered a singer of the future—a children's singer whose talent goes beyond the typical children's songs, such as "Si Kodok," "Semut-Semut Kecil," and "Tukang Bakso."

Perhaps in a few years, she will become a great Lady Rocker in Indonesia.
— Budhy Paramita, as quoted in Ananda magazine, 1991.

Before recording a children's album, Rossa Rose frequently performed in various cities across Indonesia. She also shared the stage with top Lady Rockers of the time, including Nicki Astria, Atiek CB, Nike Ardilla, Lady Avisha, Cut Irna, and Mel Shandy, among others, during a rock concert titled LIGHT MUSIC & ART in Tasikmalaya in 1987. The Dadaha Building, where the concert was held, was almost overwhelmed by spectators, with more than 4,000 attendees despite the venue's maximum capacity of 3,600. Hundreds of additional fans gathered outside, unable to be accommodated. This performance marked a historic moment for the city of Tasikmalaya.
