Gondor is a realm of Middle-earth to the south of Rohan and to the west of Mordor, located on the Bay of Belfalas. It was the second city founded by the line of Elendil after the downfall of Númenor (the other was Arnor).
The realm was governed by a long line of Stewards after the disappearance of Eärnur, since there was no proof that the King was dead. The Kingship was restored in 3019 of the Third Age upon the Return of the King (Aragorn II).
