Brent Barry slashes to the hoop

Brent Robert Barry (born December 31, 1971 in Hempstead, New York) is an American professional basketball player, currently with the NBA's San Antonio Spurs. He is the son of Hall of Famer Rick Barry, and is arguably the best basketball player of his three brothers - Scooter, Drew, and Jon - who also share his profession. Brent has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and the Seattle SuperSonics.

Barry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Oregon State University. He was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the first round (15th pick) of the 1995 NBA draft before being traded to the Clippers.

Brent has also won the Slam Dunk contest in the NBA in the All Star weekend in 1996 with an spectacular dunk in which he flew from the free throw line to sink the ball in the rim. All in all, Barry has shown himself to be one of the steadiest, most versatile players in the NBA. He employs a terrific shooting stroke, is a talented ballhandler, and is a supremely gifted passer. In addition, Barry is generally regarded as one the NBA's most fundamentally sound players, which has allowed him to play 3 positions, as well as Point forward.

In the summer of 2004, Barry was signed as a free agent by the San Antonio Spurs, for whom he currently plays as a key reserve.
