The 'civil War in Palestine of 1947-1948' lasted from November 30 1947 to May 14 1948. The end of the war marks the end of the british mandate on Palestine.
This period constitutes the first phase of the Palestine War of 1948 during which the Jewish community and the Arabic community of Palestine confront themselves while the British, that are supposed there to ensure there security, organize their withdrawal and intervene only occasionally.
Following this phase of the war, the Arabic Israeli War of 1948-1949 will start on May 15, with the creation of Israel and the entry at war of the armies of several Arabic states that are nearby.

Background
Since 1920, Palestine is under British administration but within the country zionist Jews fight nationalist palestinian Arabs and both fight the occupying British troops. At that time, the population of Palestine consisted of approximately 589,200 Muslims, 83,800 Jews, 71,500 Christians and 7,600 others (1922 census ). This fight culminated by the Arab revolt in Palestine from 1936 to 1939.
