Jim West (R), Mayor of Spokane, Washington, USA (2003-Present).

Controversy

West was recently found to have been involved in gay personal advertisement sites and found to have been giving internships to young males whom, it is assumed, he was attracted to. In addition, he is accused of molestation while he was a sheriff and gave a Boy Scouts troop head.

West called the molestation allegations "flat lies," but has admitted to having private online relationships in the past year through Gay.com. He has said that the people he chatted with online were adults and he has denied the charges that he has sought out minors. Although West has now admitted to having consensual homosexual relationships, he maintains that he is not gay and stands by his longtime opposition to gay rights.

There have been recent calls for him to resign, yet West has announced he intends to continue on as Mayor.
