External links v. categories

Rename "Tatung Club" to "Tatung Football Club?"

I was wondering...do you think the "Tatung Club" article should be renamed to "Tatung Football Club" to make it more soccer-specific?

That is okay with me. I just took the name from the AFC website. Unfortunately, I don't know the club's actual name.

RE:Category:Football (soccer) clubs established in xxxx

Thank you for helping me out in this massive work! I thought I was the only one doing this! As you are well aware of, this categorization correction exercise is not limited to English football clubs only. It also includes clubs from other countries as well. But take your time in this as there is no need to rush through the process. USMA Players

Just wondering why you are changing the national team of USMA players (such as Arribi, Dziri and Achiou) from Algeria to Tunisia??? TonyStarks 12:42, 2 December 2006 (EST)

Thank you for your kind note. On Rafik Djebbour, several person working on similar "sports" related articles have mentioned the same sort of issue. That is, the person in question is "notable". Taking you at your word, I will remove the tag for your convience. However, might I suggest that a sentence or phrase to the affect, "player is notable as a xxx", whatever notable item that is. Pictures

I didn't know who to ask so I figured I'd come back to you for more information. I'm going to have a lot of free time over the winter break so I really want to create/update as many articles on Algerian football as possible. I also wanted to upload pictures for many of the players but I'm not clear on the rules of what can and can't be uploaded. Can you help me withat? TonyStarks 19:11, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi ! I see you make a lot articles connected with soccer . Could you help me to improve the article about Leon Whittaker . I would like to change something in 'external links' . Edits to Philippe Troussier

In your edit to Philippe Troussier, why did you remove those two categories? Before reverting it, I decided to seek an explanation first. If he is not a convert, then the sentences in the article body should have been removed too; but, if the article is true, then I don't understand why the categories were removed. Please do not upload images in the GIF format

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. I noticed that you've uploaded a number of images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before converting uploading (see Misplaced Pages:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which decreases the amount of time they take to load. There are a bunch of other advantages to the PNG format such as lossless compression that you can read about on its Misplaced Pages article. —Remember the dot (t) 22:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Windows XP can convert images to the PNG format pretty well. For better compression, use the GIMP, a free program. I also have an automated bot that can convert most GIFs to PNG. It is called the PNG crusade bot. If you tag images with {{ShouldBePNG}}, this bot will find them and may be able to do the conversion automatically. —Remember the dot (t) 22:38, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Al Wefaq Sabratah

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Al Wefaq Sabratah, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 172.146.132.103 00:53, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Me again, but this time I signed in. I understand what you were saying in the talk page but the article itself doesn't explain why it is notable. If the article is improved, then I will not have an issue. But I have no knowledge of soccer and to me, you haven't stated your case in your article. That is writing 101 - you write assuming the person reading it knows nothing about the subject. Ron Paul

Did you put the neutrality tag on the Ron Paul article? I see that it says that undue weight is given in that section, but I don't see any new discussion on the talk page about the tag. --Gloriamarie 07:18, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

I think it may be undue weight, but I also know that many blogs have been talking about this, and if it's taken out or put in the footnotes, the whole story won't be there. That's why I support its inclusion. Newspaper articles have been written about it, and it's easy for part of a story like this to be spread around without the other half.--Gloriamarie 20:37, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Maag_Tartu.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Maag_Tartu.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Re: Goal Icon in Copa América

The goal icon is only really any use in more detailed match reports, which we only really have with the World Cup and big finals, to differentiate it from red cards and so on. It is redundant otherwise as there can be no doubt what each figure means. If you want it back for aesthetic features then I defer to you entirely, but it's a b*gger to type in when you're updating articles live, which I do with the UEFA Cup and so on. Furthermore, there is no equivalent in rugby articles for tries, drop goals and so on, (where it might not unreasonably be suggested the small icons would be more useful), and the icon makes the article stretch vertically as it is thicker than normal text. I also adjusted some of the goal times after watching the matches which I videoed last night (I'm not staying up till 2am every day). Regards Mjefm 13:24, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Danubio_FC.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Danubio_FC.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
