In the notice placed on the top of the article, it reads "Editing of this article by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled", which means that newly registered accounts such as yours may not edit it. This effectively prevents sockpuppet disruption. Húsönd 15:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Please define the term "newly registered."

My RfA Nomination

Hello. I've been nominated for adminship here, and, of course, I declined here. How do I delete the nom page (if it has to be deleted)? Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 19:25, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey Husond. A while back I uploaded some pictures for a new "project". The project is now disbanded as the founder was a sock. Could you delete the pictures. Here they are Image:Emerald Society Logo.svg and Image:Emerald Society Logo.svg. Thanks. --Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (ταlκ) 00:12, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Board Candidacy

Hi! I'm leaving you this note because we've had extensive and/or productive interaction over the course of my time on this Wiki. I (yep, little ol' Jouster!) am running for election to the Wikimedia Board of Trustees. I would greatly appreciate it if you would please take a look at my submission of candidacy, and consider endorsing me, as that is a requirement for me to stand for election.

If you have any questions or concerns about this notice, please don't hesitate to poke me on my Talk page. If you object to this solicitation for endorsement, please do not hesitate to remove it from your Talk page with my apologies; it will not appear again.

I look forward to serving you all on the Board! Jouster  (whisper) 18:38, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Interview Translations for the Signpost

Hello. As you may know, the board elections are just around the corner. As a service to the community, the Misplaced Pages Signpost is going to interview the candidates and translate the questions and answers to as many languages as possible. I am going to help with the Spanish translation and other users are going to make the translations into other languages. You can learn more by reading User:Ral315/Board 2007. As a Portuguese user, would you mind helping the Signpost by translating the interviews into said language? If you can't, could you ask another Portuguese-speaking user to do it? If you have any questions, please ask Ral315, the editor-in-chief of the Signpost, as I'm going on vacation until Monday. Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 18:38, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello. Just saw your translation. Thanks for your work! Portuguese is easier than I thought. It's very similar to Spanish, like Italian. Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 15:43, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, as a Puerto Rican, I am a native speaker of the Spanish language. Even though Puerto Rico is an American territory, one can't really get around the island without knowing at least a little Spanish. ¡Que tengas un buen día! (Have a nice day!) Su amigo, Eddie 23:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello, again. Ryan (Ral315) told me to tell the users of the Spanish Misplaced Pages about the translations by posting a message on the local Village Pump (I left them a message at their Café, their equivalent of our Village Pump). Could you do the same on the Portuguese Misplaced Pages? Thank you. Yours sincerely, Eddie 23:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello. That's okay. I'll get another user to do it. Happy editing! Yours truly, Eddie 23:51, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Portuguese translation

Sounds great - A.Z.'s already volunteered to help, but the more the merrier - it gets the translations done faster. See here for the main translation area - the article should be translated, and when I get replies on the questions, those should be done as well. Let me know if you have any questions. Ral315 » 20:30, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Progress

Hey Husond. I'm making progress, so I think. I have not really began to work on any articles, but I have created a Portal, that I'm still building, and my talk page count is up. I'm also going to get more involved in Xfds. Cheers. --Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (ταlκ) 21:30, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Glad you like it. I hope to have it operational by the end of June. Unfortunately, I'm going to be only semi-active the month of July. G1ggy thinks it may be a tad to bright. Leave a message on the Portal for suggestions and stuff. Thanks. --Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (ταlκ) 18:12, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Copyvio images

I have tagged this pics Image:Goddess_(Small).png and Image:Dholavira.JPG. The uploader claims it to be a own work. But it obviously looks copy and paste. Can you have a look into this? I believe these fake tags jeopardise Misplaced Pages and expose her to legal suits. I found these images to be plagiarised from Google .

Anwar 18:27, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Its clear from this article that Archaelogical Survey of India prohibits photography on the Dholavira heritage site. Infact it seems, ASI also bars photography at nearly all of its site museums, of works with long expired copyright claims. Anwar 19:48, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Image deletion procedure

Hello. Is it appropriate to remove copyright licensing information from an image and then tag it for speedy deletion as missing source information, as is being done here? The user has told me not to remove his tags, so I thought I would ask you as an administrator for guidance on whether this sort of procedure is appropriate. -- Lexmercatoria 19:37, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Fake tags can be removed as in this case.Anwar 19:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Husond, Since Anwar saadat (talk · contribs) seems to be ignoring reasoned arguments presented by Lexmercatoria, you and me at his talk page I have reported his actions at WP:ANI. Please feel free to respond there. Abecedare 20:18, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Norse (?) text

Entrevista

Hi. I saw that you changed your own phrase "com os candidatos" into "aos candidatos". Searching google for "entrevista aos candidatos" gives you only 512 results, while searching Google for "entrevista com os candidatos" gives you 9970 results, and searching for "entrevista dos candidatos" gives 73600 results. I think it's best to change it again. What do you think? A.Z. 20:49, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

A present for you

Hello, Húsönd! I sent you my furry friend here a while back, but unfortunately while travelling through the Panama canal he decided to jump out and go for a romp through the country, and didn't return until recently - so his arrival was delayed a tad.

I love my long-nosed kusimanse, thank you very much for sending him! He cheered me up and I hope that this squirrel monkey does the same for you; he's great at getting rid of pesky insects around the house, no more need for Pest Control or fumigation! If he multiplies you may be able to set him and his 100,000 descendants at computers to edit wikipedia for you :)

All the best and hugs as well, -- Editor at Largetalk 07:18, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Project European Union

Hello Husond, you are member of the project European Union. I try to create a new project page for the project. You can see it at here Because this should be the project page for all it´s members, please tell me, what you think about it. Please leave your comments on the talkpage of the project.--Thw1309 11:32, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

A request

Step 1 for getting a request granted: bribe with lollies.

Oooh, Husond, gummy bears! Yay!

Step 2: Ask the favour from the person who is, by now, too helplessly under the spell of gummy bears to say no! ;) Husond, would it be possible for you to translate the following text into Portuguese for me?

We would love to use this photo to illustrate Name of page on Misplaced Pages. I was wondering if you would consider relicensing this as Attribution Creative Commons or Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons? We would really appreciate it! This is a great representative picture, and is a shame not to be shared more widely. As per the terms of the above licenses, you would receive full credit as the photographer. Regards, Riana.

No rush! :) Take care, Riana (talk) 14:46, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh goodness, what a romantic language, how could anyone resist! I shall inflict it upon hapless Portuguese flickr users as soon as I can! Thanks a bunch, hope it wasn't too much trouble. If you ever need anything translated into Bengali you know where to go :) Cheers! Riana (talk) 17:09, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Change of mind

Thank you - your change of mind here is very much appreciated - I did hope that I could gain your trust (without any form of badgering or argument). My intention is to not let you (or anyone) down (and certainly never intentionally).--VS 00:36, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes sir - that works - when I smiled at receipt of the surgeon fish I think my mouth resembled that of the fish (but that may have something to do with a late night and rehearsals/s/s/s/s/).--VS 02:06, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

Thank you both for reverting the vandalism on my page and for being there to quickly block the two repeat vandals that I reported only a few minutes earlier. Trusilver 14:59, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Muito obrigado, amigo meu!

Thank you for all that you have done!
How much love resides therein!
All one's gifts are never gone:
Not seen, perhaps, but stored within.
Kindness is an inner sun.

Your unspent heart a message sends
Of grace and sacrifice hard-won
Upon which happiness depends!

Muito obrigado, amigo meu! :)

RfA thanks

Thank you for your support and comments at my RfA
Hi Husond, It still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs. Whilst I would have normally thanked you properly at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment. Copa America 2007

Hi, the semi protection you put on the above article is helping. However, I just noticed that you state that it is only for a period of 45 minutes. The match is now approaching 45 minutes, which is only half time. The full match is a minimum of 90 minutes (often lasting up to 10 minutes longer with injury time added on) plus on top of that the half time lasts 15 minutes plus. Is there any chance you could increase the semi-protection to take into account the full length of the match rather than just the first half? thanks ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 01:39, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for such a quick response, much appreciated. ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 01:44, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Goguryeo-China wars

Hey Husond! Could you look at that article talk? Several users are suggesting that it be moved to the Military history of Goguryeo. Also, could you explain to Jiejunkung that you probably shouldn't have a summary article if the objects being summarized count up to only 2? (Goguryeo-Silla wars & Goguryeo-Baekje wars {these don't exist for now} --> Goguryeo-Korea wars {nor does this}) Thanks. (Wikimachine 23:07, 28 June 2007 (UTC))

Hi Husond. It takes time to understand User:Wikimachine's move and the arguments in Talk:Goguryeo-China wars. The main focus is moving the inconsistent and anachronistic title Goguryeo-China wars to the neutral and more descriptive "Military history of Goguryeo". I presented an equally controversial title Goguryeo-Korea wars to show the absurdity of "Goguryeo-China wars". In the talk page I repetitively stated that such titles should be avoided and should not created. User:Wikimachine's words here may incorrectly imply that I support the wrong titles. Finally, I vote to focus on the main topic, i.e., renaming the controversial title to the correct one. Don't let some users to lead us to other distractions.--Jiejunkong 23:32, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello both. Any controversial move proposal must go through WP:RM. Did anyone try that yet? Proposals listed there will attract valuable feedback by other users. :-) Regards, Húsönd 00:24, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
It's been listed there for the past week or so, it's been in the backlog for a few days. Currently 12 users support moving it, 3 oppose. I'm not sure what's holding up the actual move itself. —LactoseTI 01:07, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
I see... I'll have a look then. I have a bad feeling about this though. :-/ Húsönd 01:10, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Can you almost hear the theme from Jaws? Probably everyone on both sides appreciates you having the guts to take a glance over it. Thanks. —LactoseTI 01:16, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Opinion requested

I noticed this article the other day and thought of you :) Out of curiosity, what's your opinion on it's choice of spelling for the English Misplaced Pages? --Duk 15:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I never noticed this stuff until recently. Just interested in various rationales for not using English spelling. --Duk 16:38, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Goguryeo Archive

Sorry for archiving if it was inappropriate. I was following the Liancourt Rocks precendent, where an admin archived the discussion immediately after the move since the talk page was large and only about the move. Similarly, the Military history of Goguryeo page was over 100k and only about the move. The admin moved it in the Liancourt Rocks page so that a new discussion could be formed and everyone could move on; this was my intetion for the other article as well. --Cheers, Komdori 21:01, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

I was working all week and had planned on updating the Basque portal with the new selected this weekend but you beat me to it so I thought I'd thank you.--Joebengo 04:52, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Hi Husond. Thank you for your support and kind words in my RfA, which passed with 95 support, 1 oppose, and 1 neutral !votes. It means a lot to me to have your individual support and the collective support of so many others. I truly will strive to carry myself at a level representing the trust bestowed in me as I use the mop to address the never-ending drips of discontent in need of caretaker assistance.

My RfA

Thank you for participating in my RfA. It was successful, and I am now, may God have mercy on us all, an administrator. Look at all the new buttons! I had heard about 'protect,' 'block user,' and 'delete,' but no one told me about 'kill,' 'eject,' and 'purée.' I appreciate the trust the community has in me, and I'll try hard not to delete the main page or block Jimbo. -FisherQueen (Talk) 17:48, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

I am extremely unsatisfied with your deletion of my addition to the July 2nd wikipedia page. I am re-adding it and there is no reason for it to be deleted. You do not know anything about the Atlanta "Stars" scene so please do not act like you do and delete this addition. The topic of this post is Taylor Scott and I recently have done an article of him. He has been featured in about 6 magazines including Rolling Stones and been on 3 local TV spots. Thankyou

My recent RfB

Thank you so much for your participation in my recent RfB. Though it closed with 72% support (below the required 90%), I'm still quite pleased at the outpouring of support shown by a fair percentage of the community.

I'm currently tabulating and calculating all opposing and neutral arguments to help me better address the community's concerns about my abilities as a bureaucrat. If you'd like, you can follow my progress (and/or provide additional suggestions) at User:EVula/admin/RfB notes. Thanks again!

A very, very special thank you for extremely kind words both during and after my RfB; you're one of the Wikipedians that I respect the most, and to make you feel proud is an enormous badge of honor for me. Hopefully in just a few months, you'll be able to say that you've coached bureacrats. ;) EVula // talk // // 04:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Janitor's_bucket_with_mop.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Janitor's_bucket_with_mop.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Image:Janitor's bucket with mop.jpg

Great photo. I guess you weren't kidding when you said you were going to take a photo of your own mop and bucket :-) Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 20:02, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

It certainly is better than a red link :-) BTW, I just found out about your RfB. Good luck! I'll sure you'll make a great B'crat. Yours sincerely, Eddie 22:18, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
If you have the time, I reported a user at WP:UAA and it's been sitting there for over an hour. Could you do something about it? Happy editing! Eddie 22:30, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks anyways! Eddie 23:08, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Question

Finally someone has the balls to try out for RFB! Would you mind answering the question I posited to your RFB? bibliomaniac15 23:38, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I also tagged your mop and bucket pic with the GFDL tag. bibliomaniac15 23:42, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Happy 4th of July!

Hello. Don't know if you celebrate it, but Happy 4th of July! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Boricuaeddie (talkcontribs).

Darn it! I can't believe I forgot to sign. Sorry! Thanks for the fireworks! Eddie 00:24, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

1 day???

This account is spam only, it needs an indef hard block, not a 1 day block. It only exists to place myspace links all over as fast as possible, why would we want him back tomorrow? Until(1 == 2) 01:00, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I thought a while about it. This account isn't spam-only, as there were a few valid contributions before today's massive spam. That's why I've decided to block a single day. If tomorrow this user is back spamming, then an indef block is likely. Regards, Húsönd 01:03, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

No, if you look at the edits, there is not a single edit that does not involve feces, circle jerking, or spamming. This is a vandal only account, I looked at every contributions they are all juvenile crap. I would not have recommended an indef block if it did not meet the criteria in the blocking policy. Until(1 == 2) 01:07, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. Until(1 == 2) 01:12, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

RfB question

I've asked an optional question on your RfB, the same as I have asked of all current RfB candidates. Walton 14:15, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

WP:RFA/ACL 2

Thanks for your support at my RfA. I hope your RfB is a success. :) Acalamari 23:20, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Um, unsurprisingly sucessful? :) Heh, heh; to be honest, I was surprised at how successful it was, in all fairness. Acalamari 00:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Query

Excellent job in protecting Carlos Tevez, but I must say you made an incorrect edit, sorry im new to posting on user pages so I dont know how to lay this message right but, you put that he played for Uruguay in Copa america, but hes Argentine, and plays for Argentina...—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.131.111.108 (talkcontribs). Also, if your going to protect it you should probably revert the club bit back to West Ham until anything is actually confirmed—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.131.111.108 (talkcontribs).

You can't confirm what I said?

You said he plays for Uruguay, but theres tonnes of other sentences in the page saying he plays for Argentina...

As for the Manchester United thing, people aren't allowed to report speculation, it has not been confirmedZeMaestro 02:37, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Ah ok

At the bottom of Carlos Tevez International career it says he is playing for Uruguay in copa america, i'm a new user so I can't fix this, and same for the Manchester United part—The preceding unsigned comment was added by ZeMaestro (talkcontribs).

RfB question

Oh, do take your time...I should be doing more RL work myself...Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:25, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

My RFA

Thanks for participating in my RFA. Hiberniantears 17:24, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I found the entire process to be quite informative, and I've already found that many of the comments from those who opposed -your's included- were very constructive. Obviously, I would have loved to have passed, but I really feel as though the thoughtfullness of much of the discussion has positioned me to know where to improve so that I can try this again sometime down the road! Thanks again! Hiberniantears 17:39, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Father Michael Goetz Secondary School

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Father Michael Goetz Secondary School. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. John Vandenberg 00:43, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

ops, I did it, too. I guess I'll delete mine. -- DS1953 00:51, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
The fact that I disagree with you on this particular AfD closing (or that anyone else disagrees with you) should not get to you. Admins and b'crats have to make decisions, and if the decisions were all easy, we wouldn't need to have admins and b'crats - we could use bots. It's easy for ordinary guys like me who don't have to make those decisions to pick over the decisions of those who do.
While it may appear to you that my "oppose" on your RfB was based only on this single event, that is not the case. If you look closely, you will see that I weighed in my support on the other RfBs (filed after yours) more than a day before I weighed in on yours. I was already struggling with my position on your RfB. Admittedly, your closing decision on this AfD did help tip the scales because I don't think it is fair to discard opinions (or at least severely underweight them) simply because you don't agree with the logic. Once you start down that line, you can say that having notable alumni doesn't make a school itself notable, winning state athletic championships doesn't make a school notable because high school athletics isn't important, etc... and that anyone who thinks it does is, in reality, voting "I like it." At that point you are simply substituting your opinion for the opinions of others. I am not saying that some "opinions" cannot be discounted if they are clearly not relevant, but you are walking down a very slippery slope when you start devaluing opinions and it is important to recognize the difference between what is completely inapposite versus simply at odds with your own view of the world of Misplaced Pages.
If it is any consolation, I plan to sleep on my decision on your RfB and may remove it if I think that I am letting this single decision rule my opinion of your current candidacy. In any event, please rest assured that you have not "lost my trust" and that in any future RfB there will be a completely clean slate. One article out of 1,866,344 is not going to make or break the encyclopedia and one decision in isolation that does not mark a pattern of disregarding opinions that you disagree with is an aberration soon overtaken by all the good work you do. -- DS1953 06:01, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for understanding my position. Honestly, I am more dismayed by some of the comments of other editors at the deletion review than I am by your closing decision. At least you only disregarded the people who hold the good faith view that "schools are notable". Some of the comments go so far as to imply that a closer should also disregard comments that say that notability has been established if the closer disagrees with that conclusion. If that is the case, then the concept of consensus now means "your view counts as long as I find personally find merit in your view". That is not consensus. If I am sitting in a meeting and 7 people clearly want one result and 6 people clearly want the opposite result, even if I think that the 6 people have a more compelling argument, I cannot claim that there is consensus. If people do not think the test should be "consensus to delete" (as WP:DEL very clearly requires), they should argue to change the policy, not to define consensus to mean ignoring good faith views that they disagree with. We are not in Wonderland and, unlike Humpty Dumpty, when we use a word, we are not free to choose exactly what it means. -- DS1953 17:49, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

July 2007

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. An article you recently created, Amistades Peligrosas, may not conform to some of Misplaced Pages's guidelines for new articles, so it will shortly be removed (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do and please read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Amistades Peligrosas, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Misplaced Pages guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. — Coren  16:41, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
