"The K Man"
Karl Pilkington was born in Manchester on 23rd September 1972. Before becoming the producer of an XFM Radio Show hosted by Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant, Karl was a DJ with Colin Makin in a group called "Pilkies Makin Music", worked in a print shop, and worked on a paper route as a kid.
On the XFM show, Karl began as an off-air producer and went on to become one of the most brilliant, although somewhat mental minds on radio. Karl is a fan of "weird stuff", and has told some of the strangest tales ever heard. Some of these stories include women getting in cabs with spuds for heads, two lads who went to his school that had big heads and webbed hands, but they weren't related, and being stuck in a shopping trolley in a lake for 30 minutes because he didn't want to get his trainers wet, which he eventually got sacked for.
Karl likes any stories having to do with animals, especially monkeys or anything ape-related, believes that Chinese people don't age well, and his favorite movie is The Elephant Man.
Some of Karl's most popular radio skits and contests are Monkey News (news about Monkeys), Rockbusters (Blockbusters with a word change), Songs of Praise (In which he assembles words from various songs to form a phrase such as "Me neighbor had a horse in the house"), and Karl In Film (where Karl takes a lead role in a major film: Rain Man, The Sixth Sense, A Few Good Men).
Karl can be seen on Ricky Gervais' Live Standup DVD Politics, where Karl is interviewed by Ricky for 20 of the most hilarious, informative minutes you'll ever witness. He can also be heard on XFM 104.9, London radio, from 1pm-3pm of a Saturday, for 6 weeks beginning on 28th May 2005 and ending 2 July 2005.
