The LGBT studies WikiProject Newsletter! Issue VII - June 1, 2007 Monthly Challenge: June Stub Review! Take a moment and sift through the roughly 3,600 Stub-class LGBT articles. Are they still stubs? If not, make an assessment change. Even better, do you see anything you can add/edit to increase the rating? Let's see if the project can lower the number of stubs down below 3,000! Project News WP:LGBT Exceeds 200 Members!! Two editors have been selected by project members as co-coordinators. Their duties are still a bit unclear, but having a few more janitors around the project will help keep us running smoothly. Do you remember anything about the copyright of that specific image? Its currently on dr at commons - see commons:Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:Trophy.jpg, and I was hoping you might remember something about its source. Bawolff 22:06, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes - it was actually a press release snapshot photograph from an NIH function. It appears that NIH has deleted the source ohot from its site. The award was part of an otherwise very busy picture, but the shot was head-on so I could cut out all the extraneous people, etc. To cover some of the jagged lines from the edit, I added a drop shadow - which look as if it has been badly cropped by some other Wiki editor. - Davodd 16:06, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

(Sorry to pop in, I have your talk on watchlist from a previous message I left you) Do you by chance remember the source page? Not necessarily the exact URL, which would be impractical, but perhaps whether the image was on a press release or some other type of page, and any other details like the date (or year) of the NIH function? I do know the original URL: http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/NR/rdonlyres/F52F097F-B37C-4B74-80FB-8321BDA72953/0/student2.jpg - the "NR" behind ".gov/" is for news releases. But it appears they redesigned the site when they added RSS fees a few months ago. I do not remember the year, but it was more than 2 years ago. Once that happened, the obvious nature of its "public domain"-ness disappeared and then it was nominated for deletion. - Davodd 20:40, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Misplaced Pages:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now.
