Needing attention
There are many, many articles relating to Greater Manchester which require urgent attention and work. Members of the project are encouraged to post articles in need of work in the table below. Any relevant article can be nominated, but articles with greater significance should be of the highest priority, and so please explain why you nominated this article and what needs doing.
Articles that you think are almost at WP:GA or WP:FA standard, are also very good articles to nominate!

---|---|---|---|---|
History of Manchester | 25/2/07 | User:Jhamez84 | The History of Manchester has played a massive impact upon our region, its people and the wider world. It is key to the entire success of our county. | Sources do not use inline citation, the overall appearance is dated, and in breach of WP:LEAD and WP:MOS. Better use of headings, images and wider range of sources would rapidly improve the article. |
Manchester Ship Canal | 25/2/07 | User:Jhamez84 | The Manchester Ship Canal helped facilitate the Industrial growth of much of the Greater Manchester area, and is a profound feat of design and engineering. | Citation, Images, Sources & improved headings. General expansion of text. |
University of Manchester | 26/2/07 | User:Jhamez84 | Quite a mature and well referenced article. Many of our WikiProject members take an interest in this article also. | Too many sections are unreferenced, and other sections are mere lists of alumni. Only two photographs within the article. |
Newhey | 2007-02-28 | User:Peteb16 | It's still only a stub. | Needs photographs and more elaborate information on history, etymology, land marks, religion and education. |
River Beal | 2007-02-28 | User:Peteb16 | It's still only a stub. | Full research is needed on where this River starts and ends and what it has historically been used for. All that is known is that it weaves its way through many significant locations in the northern parts of Shaw and Crompton. It also widens to a lake in Newhey. |
Scouting in Greater Manchester North | 2007-02-25 | User:Kintetsubuffalo | Has been put up for deletion, please help save it. | |
Reddish | 15/3/07 | User:Jhamez84 | A mature and outstandingly well referenced article. Very close to WP:GA standard. | Needs attention to the prose and flow of text. A communal copyedit would do the trick, I suspect. |
List of places in Greater Manchester | 2/4/07 | User:Jhamez84 | An article that will appear on every Greater Manchester settlement's infobox. | Just needs expansion and verification by other members. |
Sale, Greater Manchester | 28/04/07 | User:Malleus Fatuarum | An article that apparently had WP:GA status until that status was withdrawn earlier today. | I think it's an interesting example of trying to bound what should be in and what should be out of an article about an area within Greater Manchester. And with a little bit of work it could back to WP:GA status.
Update: I'm very pleased to be able to say that this article is now back to WP:GA status, thanks to some hard work. It's now what I wanted it to be, a template for similar areas within Trafford and beyond. Thanks to everyone who contributed. ---- Eric 01:32, 24 May 2007 (UTC) |
For Deletion
- Category:Freemen of the City of Manchester has been nominated for deletion. Pit-yacker 02:53, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Seems to have been deleted now? ---- Eric 18:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Chancellors Hotel & Conference Centre (otherwise known as The Firs) has been nominated for deletion. Pit-yacker 16:18, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- The nomination has now been withdrawn. ---- Eric 19:32, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- Owens Park has been nominated for deletion Pit-yacker 20:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- The result was keep. Mr Stephen 21:36, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have nominated The Green Quarter for deletion here. AFAICT, this is just one of tens of similar developments in the centre of Manchester alone. Pit-yacker 20:08, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have added an AFD for Whitworth West for similar reasons here Pit-yacker 21:08, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think Crime and policing in Manchester should be deleted as it does not seem very relivant. There is already reference to policing in Manchester here Politics in Manchester#Law enforcement and this could be expanded further. What do people think before it is nominated? XAndreWx 02:06, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- A merge would perhaps be more appropriate IMHO. Oldelpaso 06:52, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Articles for merging
I tagged The Watersheddings and Watersheddings for merger sometime ago. Are, as suspect the same thing? Pit-yacker 14:18, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Is there a standard format?
Is there a standard format for articles in this project? Information that ought to be included, sections, ordering of sections and so on? ---- Eric 23:30, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
