The new Indian Professional Football League, also known as the I League, is the new football league in India started by the AIFF. It will replace the the old National Football league (NFL) which lasted for 11 seasons. The 2007/2008 season will be the first for the I League. The league will begin September 30 and end in mid February.

The 2007/2008 season will be the first for the I League. In the first season, the league will consist of two divisions, the I League 1st Division and I League 2nd Division. The 1st Division will consist of 10 teams from five different cities. Eight of the teams will come over from last years final NFL and two promoted teams from the 2nd Division.

Salgaocar SC and Viva Kerala are the two promoted teams from last years NFL.
