Welcome to my talk page

I'm pretty easy going about what goes on here. However, if you have come here regarding an administrative action I have taken that you disagree with or wish to be clarified, or regarding a copyedit or cleanup I have performed, please ensure that you:

  • Maintain a civil tone and are clearly interested in improving the encyclopedia.
  • Bear in mind that I have been an editor since December 2005 and an administrator since May 2006, and have a big fat pile of edits - I am in no way "better" than any other editor, but I may have a greater understanding of Misplaced Pages policy and practice than many.
  • Know that I do not hate you (I love you), nor do I hate your company, group, product or friend (at worst, I am ambivalent towards it / them, and I may well love them too)
  • Have read any and all links to guidelines or polices included in my edit summaries or talk page edits related to your reason for being here.
  • Understand that disruptive, trolling or otherwise undesirable or unconstructive messages will be treated as they would on any other Misplaced Pages page.
  • It's "Deiz". D-E-I-Z. Not Diez, Diaz or any other Spanish sounding misspelling...

Thanks you

Thanks you. In Japanese pronunciation for number 7 is shichi and hichi. There are many readings to one kanji. Therefore, I think the kanji must be written down in the English sentence.Tokyo Watcher 11:38, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah whatever you want dude, edit it as you like i dont care, however i think your going to struggle to find any other sources on the web but by all means look? I look forward to seeing what is found. King Alaric 16:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

uc merced

Sounds like an advertising tag to me. UC Merced is a new campus so they don't have much to be proud of, yet. I don't really see how being the 1st in the 21st century is a claim to notability. UC Merced is pretty much a holding pen right now for students who couldn't get into better UC schools (like my soon-to-be alma mater, UCSD). I say lets keep the claim until the university does something notable. —Ocatecir 07:26, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

user Controllerman

Deiz, please close my user account and erase the history. I am thoroughly disgusted with the way I have been treated and the false as well as unsubstantiated accusations of sockpuppetry. I want no more of WP. Thank you Controllerman 08:18, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

OCC

I removed some stuff of border line importance, I hope we have reached a consensus. Anything else, please discuss on the talk page. -- Earl Andrew - talk 07:04, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Not all is available on the club website. I had to do some reasearch for it. If I wanted to avoid your definition of "conflict of interest", I wouldn't have edited anything on Misplaced Pages. I write what I know, and I write what I'm interested in. Again, I can of course work on sourcing the information to improve the article. -- Earl Andrew - talk 08:15, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion tags

Hi
You are not supposed to remove deletion tags until admins have had a chance to have a look at the article--AdamJWC 12:50, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Admin. Deiz talk 12:52, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Just to clarify beyond the obvious fact that Deiz is an admin, anyone that is not the original creator of an article can remove speedy deletion or prod tags. —Ocatecir 16:08, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Why would an admin leave an article uncategorised--AdamJWC 12:53, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
I wanted to have my account renamed to Adam.J.W.C. but becuase I had 1 block for personal attacks they would not do it, even though I have reverted hundreds of spam and vandalised articles since then. So it looks as though I am going to get picked on for my mistake earlier on, like have all my edits reverted or have my user page deleted or something similar.--AdamJWC 13:22, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Joe Rogan: Deleting Additional Info

You could have added tags to the information that did not provide sources (giving other users the opportunity to provide sources), but you took it upon yourself to remove the ENTIRE "Additional Information" section without discussing it first. Not only did you delete the unsourced information but you deleted information that cited it's sources as well. Are you going to take it upon yourself to delete every "Additional Information" and "Trivia" section on Misplaced Pages?RavenJA 06:58, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes. Join me. Unsourced and poorly sourced (e.g. from blogs) facts and miscellany can be removed on-sight. As noted, feel free to reliably source the info and integrate it back into the article. Deiz talk 14:03, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Most of that information does not belong in the main body of the article that's why it was listed under "Additional Information". What's your excuse for removing the information that cited it's sources? You might as well delete the entire article while your at it.RavenJA 07:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Per policy, Misplaced Pages is not a collection of indiscriminate information. If something is a random factoid, unsourced or sourced to a blog, it is not the business of an encyclopedia to report it. Deiz talk 14:23, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

FYI

May I ask what FYI stands for--AdamJWC 01:06, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

"For your information". The first response to my question on the changing username talkpage seemed positive. Deiz talk 01:45, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

turbittj Saipan links

I live in Saipan. I think I know it better than you. I used to live in Korea. I wouldn't go telling you what is important in Korea anymore. I added three of the most popular and useful Saipan links in the Saipan section, and you call it spam. I'm trying to remain civil as per your admonition, but I would expect more from a Hedberg fan. I would never spam, and I added no spam, yet I'm blocked. Give me a break. Did you even look at the links you call spam. They were advice for travelers in Saipan and descriptions of life in Saipan. How is that spam in the Saipan section? If that is the way this thing works then yeah, that is my first and last involvement with this site.

I think the problem here is you don't fully understand what external links are and are not supposed to do on WP. Nutshell: linking to blogs is out, linking to a central Saipan info site is in, which is where the article is right now. You can read all about it at Misplaced Pages:External links. Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia, not an information directory. I'm sure you can add plenty of encyclopedic content about Saipan, but you have to play by the rules. What was your previous username? Deiz talk 03:55, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

If that is the way it is fine. I know it was useful. I got feedback to that effect from tons of people in Japan who used it to learn about Saipan for their vacation here. I didn't make anything off of it, I'd love to see a similar list at other locations, and I certainly resent a spam label. Nothing harmful came of those links for sure. It wasn't off topic. This whole site is basically one giant blog btw. I'm glad to see you have some reason for doing that, and weren't just some a**hole busting my chops, which I was sure was happening. I disagree, but I'm new and I don't think long for wikipedia, so c'est la vie.

The ratio of people enforcing WP standards to those adding non-standard info is regrettably unbalanced. However, you can't take it the wrong way if your article is cleaned up and others aren't. Deiz talk 02:03, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Sydney Coach Terminal

Hi, I noticed you put the advert notice back in the Sydney Coach Terminal article, do you think it would be possible to re-write or to even reduce some of the text so that it does not read like an advert. Last time I was in the terminal to purchase a ticket I realised what great info they provided as in tourist info and public transport, so I decided to write an article about the Sydney Coach Terminal. Not to advertise for them, as I would have nothing to gain, but to provide information for the public, as in oversees tourists who might be thinking of coming over one day. I have tried to make it sound not so much like an advert by removing the excessive use of the address and maybe a few other things, or another good idea would be to delete the article completely. What do you think--Humphrythefunlovingfellow 06:00, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I haven't touched the article, just pointed out the tag was valid. Its reads horribly like an advert and smells like a cut-and-paste from a corporate blurb. Whats up with your new signature? Usernames and signatures should resemble each other to some degree without a good reason. Given up on the name change? Deiz talk 06:17, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
What I wrote for the sydney coach terminal is original research if you want delete that article, I dont care I have nothing to lose. Do you think I should creat a new account instead for my new signiture--HumphryTheFunLovingFellow 07:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
--HumphryTheFunLovingFellow 07:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Probably. Deiz talk 10:19, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I may want to look into it when I get a chance but I want to avoid sock puppets and I would prefer to keep the edit history--HumphryTheFunLovingFellowIsHereTodayRightNow 01:22, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello Deiz, Just for your information: Since your user page doesn't say you have a page on meta wiki, lack of authentication proof, the endorsement submitted by that account will be removed, unless we find a link to meta use page on your user page here. Thank you for your attention. --Aphaia 06:41, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Link

There was a link there at one stage but I think that probably got archived by mistake. I will reinsert it later. In some cases I think it should be a private archive that only I myself should be able to access. Thanks for the info (WonderContributor<S>)

I am not quite sure if I have broken any law concerning my signature, its just that I get sick of the same one pretty easily and if a can't have a new user name then this would be the next best thing. I also wish not to start a new account becuase that would be considered sock puppetry and I would like to keep my edit history and watchlist in tact.
Concerning the archives I will link them up soon for all to peruse over. Looks like I am being punished for the speedy deletion tag thingy, I don't think I'll ever hear the end of this. ---->>>>WoNdEr-CoNtRiBuToR<S><<<<------

Image:Bill Hicks The Man in the Trench-Coat'.png

Re this disputed image, I created said image and released all copyright on it and uploaded it to the Bill Hicks page here at wikipedia. I'm not sure why it has been removed as I stated these facts when I uploaded it. DD-Jnr

And you took the original picture, and have permission from the estate of Bill Hicks to release his likeness into the public domain? I don't think so. Just because you cut and edited a copyrighted image does not mean you have the right to release it. Please become more closely acquainted with image copyright policy if you wish to challenge others on the subject. Deiz talk 23:35, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

The lawyer working for the Hicks family who also represents the Bill Hicks Estate informed me that Mr Hicks' family were extremely pleased with the art work I had created and that they instructed the above mentioned lawyer to have my artwork feature prominently at Bill's official website. www.billhicks.com At said website you will see that I do in fact have copyright of the image and therefore have the right to release it into public domain. So I suggest *you* become more closely acquainted with the facts before you remove people's valid contributions to wikipedia. DD-Jnr

DRV for "Truth in Numbers: The Misplaced Pages Story"

Dear Deiz, this upcoming Wikidocmentary film article is currently under discussion at Misplaced Pages:Deletion review on today, because a recent decision to retain it on Misplaced Pages has been appealed and it is in progress in reaching an ultimate consensus. You may wish to support for restoration by contributing it to the review. Since you had involved into it in regards to this upcoming Wikidocumentary film by Nic Hill, so please do help out and try not to hesitate to voice out your advocated opinion! Otherwise without you commenting about it, this article would never had existed. Pole Heinz Tower 14:29, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

I helped the guys with the project, but the reliable sources issue seems pretty solid at this point. If en-wiki has a firmer line on this that other wikis, I'm all for it. Deiz talk 14:38, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Your recent block

Hello - that IP address you just blocked for 1 year seemed to just be another vandal - it doesn't look like a serious death threat. Maybe a smaller block would be more justified, considering it didn't have any warnings or any prior history of vandalism? ugen64 02:56, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

It's important to send a clear message that edits such as that cannot and will not be tolerated, obviously the threat was likely not "serious". We'll see if anything comes up on the talk page. I'd be happy to reduce or remove the block in time, or see it done by another admin, but not just yet. Deiz talk 03:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Could you delete a page for me?

Hi, just wondering if you could delete Userbox:Derry_Boi/Sandbox2 for me. I created it and it was meant to be a sub-page of my user space, but as you can see, I started the link with "Userbox" and not "User", so it didn't become a sub-page and hence has no bread line back to its parent page. Stupid mistake on my behalf. No need to move it, I think deleting it would be the best option. I don't really know anything about the deletion process, so thoughtI'd seek an admin for help. I think it meets Criteria for speedy deletion. Anyway thanks for your help. Derry Boi 00:37, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Done. If you create a page in error you can add the {{db-author}} speedy tag. Deiz talk 02:49, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Jackass

I certainly have my sources, but can you tell me how to cite documentaries on dvds? - Flowerkiller1692

Sure, list the title of the disc, publisher, date of release and ASIN number. Example at Long Way Round. Deiz talk 03:55, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Do I have to cite the specific documentary if the documentary was a special feature on the dvd? If I do, do I cite it first before the title of the disc, publisher and all that other stuff? Flowerkiller1692 21:05 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Something like "DVD bonus features, Jackass: The Movie, Paramount / MTV Films, 2002, ASIN: 1234554321" should do it. Deiz talk 04:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

I see the word that you put in to the name change people made a difference. After re-applying I tried to log back in and it said that my user account no longer existed, when I looked further my name had been changed to what was requested the first two times. I cope with this problem based on your advice.
Thanks you.

Bam Margera & JAPW

You didn't give any support as to why it isn't significant. Sure he makes a lot of appearances, but for JAPW, they don't have a celebrity at their shows all the time. With Margera, he raised the promotions profile the much more slightly even if he didn't do much. Mr. C.C. 05:41, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Also, if I am going to be putting him in the JAPW alumni category, there should a be a reason on his article page. Mr. C.C. 05:43, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I gave it verifiability by citing with a link from a notable website's forum. Mr. C.C. 06:10, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

JAPW Notability

There was deletion tag put upon the JAPW article and well, the concensus was to keep it. I had to revert an edit on the JAPW page due to blatant copy and pasting. I have tried to contact Fat Frank to see if I could use the history of JAPW from the JAPW official site without having to paraphrase it. That's why more hasn't been done on the history side of things. Mr. C.C. 08:19, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
