Almost every article in Misplaced Pages could do with some expansion - the aim of Misplaced Pages is to have every article at featured status. This page is for listing those articles of any length for which there is a specific request or longer (non-stub) articles which are still embarrassingly short or insufficient for an encyclopedia of the stature to which Misplaced Pages aspires.
Articles to list here:
- Stubs - Articles that are very short. These should be tagged with {{stub}}, or a topic-specific stub tag. Since stubs by definition are tagged as being too short for their subject, the use of the {{expand}} tag on stubs should always be accompanied by a detailed explanation of what needs to be done.
- Longer articles that still need expansion. Be sure to tag these {{expand}} when you nominate them.
- Sections in particular need of expansion within an article may be tagged with {{expandsection}} or {{Sectstub}}.
Articles not to list here:
- Articles only needing an image - Use Requested images instead.
- Articles that do not yet exist - Use Misplaced Pages:Requested articles instead.
- Articles that need fixing - Use Misplaced Pages:Cleanup instead.
How to add a new listing
Please list entries chronologically (newest at top) and add {{expand}} to the talk page, with a note about what needs to be expanded. On this page, be sure to sign your post with ~~~~ so the date will be included. Please also bold the title of the article you are adding, to make the list easier to read.
Instead of using {{expand}}, you may instead choose to add an item to an article's todo list, located on the talk page. Add the {{todo}} template to the top of the article's talk page, and then fill out the /todo subpage explaining what needs to be added.
Cleanup needed
Please help remove listings which have already been expanded. To determine this, you can check the article's history tab. Compare the length of the article from when the request was posted here to its current length. If there was a request for expansion of a particular point, see if this was done.
Articles that have been expanded should have the {{expand}} tag removed from the talk page.
In order to prevent this page from getting too long, requests older than six months should be removed from this page entirely. When doing so, please move the comment accompanying the request from this page to the article's talk page, and make sure it is tagged {{expand}}. This ensures that the article will continue to be featured on the opentask list and Category:Articles to be expanded until it is eventually expanded.
Urgent
For the most urgently needed article expansions, it may make sense in addition to listing the article here to find the project page of an appropriate Misplaced Pages:WikiProject or ask for help from a particular editor who has made contributions in that field before.
2007
Please place new requests at the top of the appropriate list and make the article link bold. Please remember to sign with four tildes (~~~~).

- Vernon Dahmer was an important civil rights leader in the 1960's. He was killed in Mississippi in 1966 when members of the KKK firebombed his house. His name was in the news again recently because the man responsible for his death was finally convicted in 1998. Anyone who has knowledge of African-American or civil rights history is invited to help expand the article. It would be much appreciated! Kindest regards, AlphaEta 20:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Lewis I have expanded the article on the Isle of Lewis to the best of my abilities from its previous miniscule state; however, my expansions have only highlighted the areas still needing expansion. - Customs - Needs to say a lot more about the purpose(s) and history of customs duties. arj 00:53, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Frankie Valli - Most of the effort behind the current stub of an article seems to have been haggling behind the date of birth of this legend of pop/rock music, instead of giving appropriate coverage of the five-plus decades of his career. The article is currently inadequately sourced and has quite a bit of POV despite being a quick gloss-over of his pre-Four Seasons work and some of his work "away" from the group. The stub ignores the fact that the careers of Valli and the group are virtually one and the same (he owns half of the group name). Sectioning the article to reflect the stages of Valli's career would be a step in the right direction (and, come to think of it, the The Four Seasons (group) article needs similar work, albeit not in as bad a need as the Valli article) in the organizing and referencing departments.147.70.242.40 01:43, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- Mexico City Metro - The current article is undeservedly stubby for one of the big metro networks in the world. Moreover, half of it is devoted to unencyclopedic, travel-guide information about the current fares. It is even lacking a section on history. Check London Underground, NYC Subway, Paris Metro, Moscow Metro, for examples of the kind of article this one should be like. Uaxuctum 11:54, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

- Toledo, Spain - For a city of the historical, cultural and monumental stature of this one, a World Heritage Site and former capital of the Spanish Empire, the current article looks like a mere stub. Check Florence and Venice for examples of the kind of article this one should be like. Uaxuctum 06:56, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Luce Irigaray - Article is pretty thin compared to Irigaray's fairly prominent status as a philosopical/femist thinker. Too much attention on some trite criticism compared to body of explication of her own thought. The detailed CV is nice as far as it goes, but it doesn't get into to content of thought. - Nephology - This has been a stub for far too long (since June 2004), and almost got knocked off without notice because a user didn't quite understand what Nephology was or what moving pages were for. This desperately needs attention. Miss Mondegreen | Talk 03:18, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think the Cloud article as it is is a sufficient place for the discussion of Nephology, and that until the article gets bigger, the study of clouds does not yet warrant its own article. --Rebroad 18:12, 20 March 2007 (UTC)]
- The reason I listed the article here was in order to expand it--make it bigger. The article won't get bigger if you actively work against that. Articles aren't warranted by how big they are--but by whether the topic is important. If you think the topic is unimportant, put it up for deletion. If you just think it's too short, then work on the article or try and get others to--don't actively work against the article being written, which is what you do when you encourage people not to expand it or when you move it or redirect it. Miss Mondegreen | Talk 08:03, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I know wikipedia policy aims to have articles reach a certain size before branching off sections into other articles. IMHO, Nephology should remain a direct to cloud until the section on the study of clouds becomes sufficent to warrant it's own article. I have yet to see any strong arguments to the contrary. --Rebroad 23:53, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- The study of clouds is a seperate topic that clouds and will never be mentioned in the article more than to say what it is called. That isn't to say that Misplaced Pages doesn't need an entry on it, and WikiProject Meteorology has already assessed the article, so please don't encourage people not to contribute to this article. Please people, this article is very short, only a definition at this point, in part because of an ironic attempt to kill it because it's not long enough. Miss Mondegreen | Talk 15:38, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I suggest you re-read my previous comment. I encourage expansion on the subject of nephology! --Rebroad 15:48, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, just not at that namespace. You want the article to come, perfectly packaged. The article needs work, and a lot of it. Why don't you do something instead of hiding it. You are not encouraging expansion by getting rid of the place where people would go to work on it. And, considering that you redirected the page properly once, this is problematic. This also isn't the place for this discussion, especially since it's going on several other places. Miss Mondegreen | Talk 16:12, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I suggest you re-read my previous comment. I encourage expansion on the subject of nephology! --Rebroad 15:48, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're mistaken, Rebroad. The WIkipolicies nad guidelines regarding splitting in no way requires all articles start as sections of others. ThuranX 19:44, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think the Cloud article as it is is a sufficient place for the discussion of Nephology, and that until the article gets bigger, the study of clouds does not yet warrant its own article. --Rebroad 18:12, 20 March 2007 (UTC)]
