==Welcome to Misplaced Pages==
Hi - I also found your page after reading the complaint listed in the previous comment. If you want to see the details of the complaint, you can find it at .
But I'm not writing here about the complaint, I just wanted to say hello and offer some pointers about Misplaced Pages. Also, I wanted to let you know that you don't need to worry about anything bad happening because of that complaint, although it's a good idea to read it and understand what happened. The page where that report was listed is not a place where punishment can happen, it's a noticeboard where people can discuss problems and work things out before they get worse. In the long run, if that happens a lot then it could become a problem for you, and that's why ] referred you to read the pages about being polite and not insulting people (] and ]).
I think you already know some of this stuff because I read the discussions you had with a few editors on the Doctor Who Wikiproject page. So you're learning and after a while this will all be easy. The main thing about not offending people is to remember that there are people here from all around the world and every different age. So something that you say that you think is casual or no big deal, someone else might think you're really insulting them in a big way, even though that's not what you meant. To get the results you want, the most important thing is to get along with everyone as best you can. That way, when you are having an argument or debate about something, like the the "TMV" code, if you are extra polite and treat everyone with respect - even when they disagree with you - then you will find that some of them support you and agree with your ideas.
But if you write things like this, that you wrote in the Wikiproject discussion:
:''Whoever thinks they are smart by deleting The Movie Production Code all the time, your just some sick weirdo''
- that will make the other editors feel like you don't respect them, and then they will not respect you. This might seem kind of picky, but it's really different here than the way it is hanging out with your friends or doing instant messaging and stuff. So when you feel like typing an insult like that, wait a minute before you type it, and instead come up with a different way to say it where you show why it's important to include the information, and don't even talk about the other editors - just talk about the content of the articles.
Maybe you're not interested in any of this advice - if you're not, then just ignore it - but I'm typing it here to be helpful and I hope you find it useful.
A couple other things it would be good for you to consider:
You say on your user page that you are 15 years old. Since most of the people here are adults, you should keep your personal information private be and careful about what you choose to reveal. The stuff about knowing everything about Doctor Who is cool, no problem, but you should remove your full name and just use your first name instead. Also I think it would be better if you don't list your actual age. Instead, you could say that you are in High School, or whatever they call that kind of school in your area.
Also, I notice that you have email enabled on your account. That's OK, but if anyone sends you any email that bothers you even a little, you should not reply to the email and instead report it to an administrator, on this page: ]. And make sure that you don't give your private email address to anyone you meet here, because you don't really know anything about them. You know this stuff I'm sure from just using the internet in general, but here on Misplaced Pages it can feel like a community and in some ways that's an illusion.
Keep in mind too that there is every kind of person here. Some are friendly, some are smart, some are not smart, and some are just plain mean. So whatever anyone says to you in a discussion, don't take it personally. If you find that someone is being mean to you on a regular basis, then you can report it on this page: ] and someone will help.
Don't forget, when you edit pages here even if you do a lot of work on them, other people can change them or delete them any time. Your versions will still be in the page history, and you can restore it, but if that stuff is happening, make sure to discuss it on the talk page of the article so you can get the support of other editors.
Here's a page that has a lot of good information and links for learning how things work here: ]. I recommend taking a look there and reading about the rules and shortcuts and other stuff that can help you get better results when you are editing.
You also might want to check out this page where there are experienced editors who like to help out newer users: ]. If you had someone like that helping you out, then when you got into a dispute like with the TMV code or the person who wanted to delete the page you made, you would have someone to ask about the best way to respond so you can get the best result.
Well that was a lot of words, I hope it's helpful to you. I'm not around as often as the people at the ] page, but if you have any questions, you're welcome to contact me on my talk page and I'll answer when I can. Best Wishes... --] ] 21:15, 28 July 2007 (UTC) |

WP:WQA Complaint made against you
Good afternoon. It has come to my attention that a complaint has been made against you on the Wikietiquette Noticeboard for uncivil remarks made here: (1). Please note that the violation of civility rules is taken very seriously here on Misplaced Pages, and further violations could result in a block from editing. If you would like to speak in your own defence, you may do so at the noticeboard in question. I also reccommend you read WP:CIVIL, and WP:NPA before engaging in further interaction with other users. Welcome to Misplaced Pages
Hi - I also found your page after reading the complaint listed in the previous comment. If you want to see the details of the complaint, you can find it at this link.
In the long run, if that happens a lot then it could become a problem for you, and that's why User:KensingtonBlonde referred you to read the pages about being polite and not insulting people (WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA).
- Whoever thinks they are smart by deleting The Movie Production Code all the time, your just some sick weirdo
That's OK, but if anyone sends you any email that bothers you even a little, you should not reply to the email and instead report it to an administrator, on this page: WP:AN.
If you find that someone is being mean to you on a regular basis, then you can report it on this page: WP:WQA and someone will help.
Don't forget, when you edit pages here even if you do a lot of work on them, other people can change them or delete them any time. Your versions will still be in the page history, and you can restore it, but if that stuff is happening, make sure to discuss it on the talk page of the article so you can get the support of other editors.
Here's a page that has a lot of good information and links for learning how things work here: WP:WELCOME. I recommend taking a look there and reading about the rules and shortcuts and other stuff that can help you get better results when you are editing.
You also might want to check out this page where there are experienced editors who like to help out newer users: Misplaced Pages:Adopt-a-User. If you had someone like that helping you out, then when you got into a dispute like with the TMV code or the person who wanted to delete the page you made, you would have someone to ask about the best way to respond so you can get the best result.
Well that was a lot of words, I hope it's helpful to you. I'm not around as often as the people at the Misplaced Pages:Adopt-a-User page, but if you have any questions, you're welcome to contact me on my talk page and I'll answer when I can.
