Dudjom Rinpoche (Tibetan: བདུད་འཇོམས་, Wylie: Bdud-'joms) is the title and honorific applied to a prominent line of tulkus of the Nyingmapa order of Tibetan Buddhism. The second Dudjom Rinpoche was the head of the Nyingma lineage. He was born in Tibet in 1904, and died on January 17th, 1987. He was a noted terton, considered to be the reincarnation of Dudjom Lingpa. He wrote an extensive account of the teachings of the Nyingmapa lineage, which is available in english translation. Two boys were recognized as the third Dudjom Rinpoche.

Third Dudjom Rinpoche

One of the boys to be recognized as the incarnation of Dudjom Rinpoche was his grandson. He was first recognized in 1993 by Tare Khandro (Tare Lhamo). Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche confirmed the recognition, as did Chatral Rinpoche and Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, the eldest son of the second Dudjom Rinpoche. Other senior lamas endorsing this recognition include H.H. Minling Trichen Rinpoche, H.H. Penor Rinpoche, H.H. Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and Kathok Situ Rinpoche. He studies under Chatral Rinpoche. The other candidate was recognized by H.H. the Dalai Lama.
