This is a list of islands in freshwater lakes , sometimes known as inland islands.
By size
Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron , Canada - 2,766 sq km (1,068 sq miles)
Vozrozhdeniya Island in the Aral Sea , Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - 2,300 sq km (888 sq miles). Note that in 2002 the island became a peninsula due to the shrinking of the sea, so may not appear in some reckonings.
René-Levasseur Island in the Manicouagan Reservoir , Quebec , Canada - 2,000 sq km (780 sq miles)
Olkhon in Lake Baikal , Russia - 730 sq km (282 sq miles)
Samosir in Lake Toba , Indonesia - 630 sq km (243 sq miles). Further holds the record for being the largest island in a lake on an island
Isle Royale in Lake Superior , United States - 541 sq km (209 sq miles)
Ukerewe in Lake Victoria , Tanzania - 530 sq km (205 sq miles)
St. Joseph Island in Lake Huron, Canada - 365 sq km (141 sq miles)
Drummond Island in Lake Huron, United States - 347 sq km (134 sq miles)
Idjwi in Lake Kivu , Democratic Republic of the Congo - 285 sq km (110 sq miles)
