'''Erdőd''' (Ardud in Romanian) is a town in north-western ], in the county of ]. It has about 6.500 inhabitants as of ]. The town is a German settlement (Swabish) and also a Hungarian village. The Germans and Hungarians of the village have gone through a lot of torture by the Romanians that cannot accept other ethnicities living amongst them. After World War Two a Romanian man who lived in the vilage made a list of Germans and Hungarians who will be sent to working camps inside Russia, simply because they would not accept being 'Romanianized'. To this day, Romanians will still not accept that the village was once Hungarian, they actually deny it ever being under Hungary's control. Furthur more, to insult and redicule the brave Germans and Hungarians that was sent away, they built a statue remembering this man and any past Hungarian stuctures were destroyed, including the Hungarian Stronghold, which the Romanians took apart to use he bricks for their homes... | |||
