Chertsey Lock is a lock on the River Thames on the northern Middlesex bank near Chertsey in north-west Surrey, England and is managed by the Environment Agency. The lock is 250 metres upstream of historic Chertsey Bridge and 250 metres downstream of the M3 Bridge, Chertsey .
The lock adjoins a small thin island connecting to Chertsey Weir, which is not pedestrianised.
Access to the lock
The lock is easily accessible, being on the Middlesex bank, immediately adjacent to Thames Side road and a short distance from Chertsey Bridge and the Kingfisher pub.
Reach above the lock
The Middlesex bank has open space until it reaches Laleham, where there are riverside houses. The Surrey bank is wild and open with gravel pits behind, until the boatyards short of Penton Hook. The Thames Path follows the Middlesex bank all the way to Penton Hook lock.
