Hope Solo (born July 30, 1981 in Richland, Washington) is a goalkeeper for the United States women's soccer team. She attended Richland High School and the University of Washington, and played for several junior U.S. soccer teams before being named a member of the Olympic team in 2004, making the 2004 Olympics in Athens as an alternate. She has recorded several shutouts, and once went 1,054 minutes without allowing a goal (a streak that ended in a 4-1 victory against France in the Algarve Cup).

She has started for the United States at every level of competition, and was named a Parade All-American twice in high school.

After a college career playing keeper for University of Washington Solo was drafted for the now defunct WUSA team Philadelphia Charge. She also played for Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC of Göteborg, Sweden and for the French First Division ladies team Olympique Lyonnais.

Solo was the starting goal keeper for the United States in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup giving up two goals in four games including shutouts of Sweden, Nigeria and England.
