====Controversy====
Mustafa Kemal is however remembered both by ] and ] as the one who continued and brought into conclusion the process of ] of the ] populations of ] which started by the regime of the ] and culminated in the ] (around 1.500.000 victims) and the ] (aprox.700.000 victims). Moreover Mustafa Kemal is accused by many (see ]: "The Blight of Asia", 1926) as the instigator of the ] that destroyed the Greek and Armenian quarters of the city (now known as ]) that erupted after the entry of the turkish army at late August 1922 and also for the indiscrete massacre of many ] and ] inhabitants of city, including the Greek Orthodox bishop ] who was lynched by turkish mobs and soldiers (see Horton http://www.hri.org/docs/Horton/ and Dido Sotiriou: Matomena Homata -eye witness account). Recently a lot of articles in international newsmedia have explored the issue of Kemal's sexuality, implying that during his early life he was engaged in ] activities."

Please stop adding chaining the episode box, there is no need to add a date for every reairing of the show. Please stop or you could get blocked. I'll will continue to revert your edits. --Caldorwards4 03:27, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Three revert rule warning on Just Legal

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. It would be much better to discuss the changes on the talk page instead. Cowman109 04:05, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

pic

yup, you can use it. it is a "fair use" image which means anyone can use it, as long as it is next to text that is dicussing the subject of the image. in this case, that means it has to be next to a section about miami vice. it wouldn't be allowed next to a section about philip michael thomas' singing career or duck-hunting hobby, etc. ;)

Map of Greek prefectures

Here's the map, as promised. I've uploaded it to the Commons so that it can be used on the Greek Misplaced Pages as well.

Hopefully this will meet your requirements! If not, please feel free to edit it as you see fit. -- ChrisO 12:14, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Athens

Ok. Its good we found a consensus here. Όχι πως είναι εντυπωσιακές όλες οι φώτο, αλλά γίνεται να μην υπάρχει εμφανής εικόνα της Ακρόπολης ή του Λυκαβηττού; Thanks & I understood where you come from. JFKennedy 01:13, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Athens seal.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Athens seal.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Welcome!

Welcome to the project! I hope you will enjoy contributing to our effort there!--Yannismarou 20:00, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to the WikiProject Greece! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of topics related to Greece.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Interested in working on a more complete article? The peer review department of the project would welcome your help!
  • Interested in a particular area of Greek history, geography, culture etc. ? There is already one task force, and you could initiate the creation of more focusing on specific topics or periods.
  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Misplaced Pages.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!

Athens infobox

Re your revert here (), what exactly did you dislike about my edits that you had to blanket-revert all of them? I didn't in fact remove anything from the infobox, I just replaced that terribly officious-sounding "Deme of the Athenians" (which probably nobody in the whole world has ever used in English) with the standard "Athens". I have no opinion whether to include the city seal there, I certainly don't mind having it. Do you really want "Deme of the Athenians"?? Or that jumble of name versions in the lead that I simplified? I just don't quite understand your edit. Fut.Perf. 19:20, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

The revert was just out of laziness. Kékrōps took it upon himself to delete the city flag, title of mayor, mayor of Athens, and the website of athens, after your edits that included the information and the fields themselves. You know how annoying it is when the fields are deleted? It's one thing deleting the information, but don't delete the fields. Therefore I reverted the edits to a version I felt comfortable with. I didn't mind the Deme of Athenians, and the revert wasn't meant for you, but Kékrōps. So if it felt like I was reverting your edits, I apologize. El Greco 22:04, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Eh, well, it didn't "feel like" reverting my edits; it was reverting my edits, wasn't it? Anyway... :-) I think I'll go back to my version; as for the "nickname" thing feel free to then put it back in if you must... Fut.Perf. 22:36, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Ah well, Domitius has changed most of the details back to something simple anyway, so I won't bother. Fut.Perf. 22:38, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Casino Royale locations pic

Looks good, but there seems to be a small margin of white on the right side of the picture. If you go to the picture's page and click it but do not release the button, the border of the picture should be visible and you'll see what I mean. Cliff smith 16:02, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I see what you mean, and went ahead and uploaded a newer version with no "white margin" on the right side. It should look fine now. El Greco 01:08, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Just legal.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Just legal.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 20:20, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

I added fair use rationale to the disscussion page of the photo. I hope it is sufficient enough to prevent it from being deleted. If not, I'll see what else needs to be put in to make it reach fair use rationale. I also replaced the Liscensing tag with a more appropriate liscense. El Greco 21:50, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

succession boxes on fictional character pages

You asked about the guidline. If you'll notice... the current guidline prohibits succession boxes. Did you read it? Did you read my petition? I am trying to change the guideline to allow succession boxes. Poeple use this guideline as a bat to summarily remove succession boxes without any debate. Technically, I'm simply enforcing the guideline. Do you really want someone else to come along and remove them on a whim? I take it from your response that you support removing the rule. If so, please indicate in the discussion for WP:MOSF.--Dr who1975 19:37, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Did it ever occur to you, why would I include a link on a debate to change a guidline in my update to an article along the lines of that guidle unless I wanted to get rid of it?!?!? If I didn;t want to get rid of it, I would have simply cited the guideline and nothing else. BTW.. you should really take part in voting on this thing because now that the articles are known. Some Nazi is gone come along and remove the boxes EVERY time you try to put them back on.--Dr who1975 19:47, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
I got it! I posted my discussion (SUPPORT) for the guideline to change. It does seem like a guideline in need of some change. El Greco 20:01, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Sorry if I sound so dramatic about the whole thing.--Dr who1975 22:54, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Greece

Could you please explain why you added the "La Francophonie" template to Greece? Corvus cornix 20:22, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Because they are a member of that International organization. Is there a problem? That space is reserved for organizations for which that country belongs to. Greece belongs to La Francophonie. Therefore, the template deserves to belong in the International Organizations template area. El Greco 20:29, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Why? Greece is not a French-speaking nation. Corvus cornix 21:22, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
I take it back. I checked the La Francophonie website and Greece is a member. Very strange. Corvus cornix 21:24, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Infobox Greek Dimos

Hi Greco, have you been working on the {{Infobox Greek Dimos}} lately? Maybe we should do a mass conversion of the old infobox to the new one, e.g. using WP:AWB. And I think there should be an infobox template for places that aren't municipalities/communities, to replace the not-so-nice tables at e.g. Pavlia and Neapoli, Elis, preferably in the same style as Greek Dimos. It could be a simplified version of Infobox Greek Dimos (no seal, flag, metro area etc.), with picture and map. If I have time, but I'm working on German places at the moment, I may create a sample infobox. Markussep 12:41, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

I've done a few here and there, but in the past week I've convereted about 10 cities in the Athens Prefecture. There were a few not including those 10 cities that were stubs, and didn't warrant an infobox those (The infobox would have been bigger than the entire article). I'll try converting to a few more {{Infobox Greek Dimos}}, and try working on that simplified infobox for non-municipalities/commmunities as well. If you want to go ahead and use WP:AWB, go for it because I don't think my OS will support it(Windows 98SE). 15:03, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
If you have enough info for an infobox, don't hesitate to add one, even for very stubby articles. I think the map alone is already very informative, and census data are easy to find (I think almost all municipality articles have a population number already). I'll give AWB a try. Markussep 18:23, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Sounds good, but when you replace the old template with the new template, please remove the old fields and atleast put the infobox fields in order as they appear on {{Infobox Greek Dimos}}. Take for example Samothrace, which you just recently edited with WB. You could have also taken one of those pictures and used them as a skyline picture, which I did. 18:51, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Feel free to clean up after me, or add pictures. I think it's not necessary to remove old fields or put the fields in a different order, because it doesn't influence the look of the infobox at all. I don't see the added value. In other words, if I'm going to do this (and I did about 70 in an hour), it's going to be simple: same information, new template. Markussep 21:14, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
I've cleaned up a few articles, by adding pictures, removing old fields and adding city seals. Just keep me update with what articles you've done or how many you've done in one day so I can keep some pace with you. And especially tell me when you are done converting all the articles from Infobox Town GR to Greek Dimos. 01:56, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
You can check my contribs. I'll be doing all of them with AWB, so there will be "new infobox using AWB" in the edit summary. I will tell you between what times I have worked on it, so it's easier for you to look it up. For starters: 8 May, between 18:26 and 20:15 (UTC). You probably already saw and checked my infobox conversions between 24 and 30 March. Another suggestion: copy a complete list of municipalities (or this one) to your user page/sandbox (or a subpage of WP:GREECE?) and make notes for yourself there whether you've checked the articles (infobox, seal/flag, pictures, other quality criteria). That way you make sure you don't miss any (and there are still hundreds without infobox). Markussep 11:26, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Finished (today 18:42-21:16)! The articles I left with the old template are places that aren't municipalities. Markussep 21:20, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
That's good. Now lets see how long it takes me! 01:39, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Template:Infobox Greek Dimos

Hello! I'd like to tell you something about the Infobox Greek Dimos. I think that in the part about the population, the Metropolitan section should be changed into Urban Agglomeration or something like this. Map for North Hollywood shootout

I remembered the great map of Casino Royale locations that you did, and I was wondering if you could do a map for North Hollywood shootout. As you'll see, there's already a map on the page, but the image seems warped. So basically the new map would be very much like it, only better. Maybe the current image would work if it were somehow unwarped, but I'm not really sure. Cliff smith 02:16, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

The film is increasingly viewed as an epic, comic, satire of the whole James Bond genre.

Please leave the title alone for the subdivisions. As per WikiProject Countries -

  • (Subdivisions) - Quick overview of the administrative subdivisions of the country. Name the section after the first level of subdivisions (e.g. provinces, states, departments, etc.) and give the English name.

Therefore, the name is suitably fit containing not only the first level, but the second and third as well. Thank you! Rarelibra 18:04, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

I was renaming the title to fit other FA Country articles like Germany and Turkey where they have it as Administrative Divisions. There's nothing wrong with that. 18:24, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

I will revisit Turkey - but Germany's is correct as they have different naming - same with other complex divisions. Rarelibra 23:51, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

re:Athens_seal.png

Sorry if you felt you needed to be notified but the template, unlike {{orphaned}} or {{no rationale}}, doesn't require me to notify you. To me, I can still read the Dimos Athanion, but if you want, on the image descrption page, add what the Dimos Athanion says so it is clear. The image tag currently place on the image, {{Non-free reduced}} is not going to delete the image completly, just the larger revisions which don't qualify as fair use. Your revision is borderline acceptable, so I will leave it up to the administrator handeling it do decide whether it will stay. — Moe ε 00:09, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Would a jpeg be better or a computer drawn one? Because this is the one the city of Athens makes avaliable to the public/press. So, I'm not sure what else needs to be done. And in your post, you say, {{Non-free reduced}} is not going to delete the image completly, just the larger revisions which don't qualify as fair use, how many versions of this image are there? 00:24, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
I actually think the .png version is best. Nothing else needs to be done on your part, unless you want to add the commentary of what the Dimos Athanion says on the image page. I can help if you like. As to how many revisions there are, you can see on the image description page how many there are, but just in case you don't know what to look for, there are three:
  • (del) (cur) 22:50, 11 August 2007 . . Moe Epsilon (Talk | contribs) . . 250×293 (109,666 bytes) (lower resolution for fair use qualification)
  • (del) (rev) 19:56, 19 April 2007 . . Alekjds (Talk | contribs) . . 307×360 (349,525 bytes) (Transparent version)
  • (del) (rev) 14:27, 5 February 2007 . . El Greco (Talk | contribs) . . 307×360 (170,454 bytes) (This is the seal of the city of Athens, Greece. http://www.cityofathens.gr/files/pdf/Ota/In_Athens_Logo.zip {{seal}})

The first revision is yours, which is 170,454 bytes, which as I said above is borderline in terms of being acceptable, and I will let an administrator decide whether or not this revision should be deleted. Next is Alekjds's version, which is much too large being 349,535 bytes. This version of the image is why I tagged it with {{Non-free reduced}}. Non-free reduced will alert an administrator of the situation, and review the past revision. Obviously Alekjds's version will be deleted, but yours, as I said may or may not be deleted. Next is my revision, which is the current revision, no issue with it other than it being a little smaller. This is all a little confusing sometimes, so let me know if you need furthur explaning.. Cheers! — Moe ε 00:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

You need to look at what you have just changed on the Zante article - the link is WRONG i corrected it to the RIGHT one, and you have changed it back to the WRONG one. Please check why things have been done before changing them (see the edit comments) JulianHensey 12:18, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

No, My link was the CORRECT link. Your link was in the WRONG spot. Learn to put the correct link at its source. 14:50, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Symi

Please stop undoing edits all the time to this page. The link you keep deleting is an important one for Symi and points to a non-profit site that contains over 2000 photos of Symi which are of interest to anyone interested in the island. If you have a problem with this link, then state what it is in discussion, rather than repeatedly editing the page. Your actions suggest a personal reason, rather than a professional one for removing this link.

Don't threaten me. That link is a SPAM LINK. It's NOT allowed by Misplaced Pages policy. I will continue to revert you vandalism until you stop it. And sign your name. Don't try to hide. 00:21, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Your constant removal of a link to a site that contains of 300 videos and 3000 photos of Symi is absurd. This resource is a very important one for Symi, is completely non-commercial, and is not "spam" as you have put it. I suggest you go and look at the site before you keep on deleting things. It is also not helpful for you just to delete any comments I post to you here.
There was nothing even remotely threatening in what I posted! nor am I hiding. I hadn't registered and now I have, simple as that. The link that you keep removing is NOT a spam link and you would see this very clearly if you bothered to visit the site and see what it contains. It has over 10 times as many pictures of Symi, and 50 times as many videos as ANY OTHER site about Symi. This alone makes it a valuable resource for anyone wishing to come to the island. All that your over-zealousness acheives is to deny people the change to see Symi in the way that the SymiGreece site does...far, far, far clearer and more available than anywhere else on the internet. If the site was a business site, or was earning any money, or was objectionable in any way then maybe your actions would be understandable. As it is a completely free site and makes no money whatsoever, your actions are not at all understandable. Misplaced Pages exists to impart information and you are doing your best to stop people finding things out. I find this rather disgraceful.
I have visited the site. It is a spam link and is also a fan site. It doesn't matter how many pictures or videos the site has. It is a fansite and is not allowed on wikipedia. As Misplaced Pages stat Misplaced Pages is not a directory of links, which is your arguement. (see here:WP:NOT#LINK & Misplaced Pages:External Links ) And if people want to find out about Symi, they can just go a search for websites on it on Google. Misplaced Pages is to give people information, not links. 19:58, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Fansite?? so all websites should be created by people who have no passion for the subject? A very, very poor argument indeed, in fact no argument at all. However I look at it, you are either just being extremely (and pitifully) over-zealous with a complete disregard for what Misplaced Pages stands for, or else you have ulterior motives. I suspect the latter and as I said above, I find that rather disgraceful. I have reviewed all the articles that you yourself have created or had a major contribution to and many of these contain links to "fan forums" or "fan sites", especially those for the james Bond films that you are such a fan of. Do you consider that these links to fansites are appropriate, whereas a link to an information website is not? Now that you are alerted to this, can we expect you to go through these sites and remove all the "inappropriate links" from the James Bond pages with the same zeal that you persist in persecuting the SymiGreece website?
No reply in 24 hours and you have been very busy on Misplaced Pages today. Obviously you have NO answer. You're a hypocrite, and a disgrace to Misplaced Pages.

PLEASE LEAVE THIS ARTICLE ALONE!!! You are now reverting changes that have been made that are purely informative. A reference to Symi hosting the Symi Festival is reverted, and you claim this is spam? You do NOT OWN THIS ARTICLE so stop acting as though you do. I am a resident of Symi and I presume to know a lot more about the place than you do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.185.16 (talk) 16:51, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Yet again you undo corrections to this article. Please leave it alone! You do not know Symi, and the version you persist in keeping in place has ERRORS. For example, NOBODY calls Nimborio "Emborios"; I have lived on Symi sevral years and NOBODY refers to it by this name. It is an old name that no longer applies, as about as relevant as calling New York, New Amsterdam. Also, the kastro is NEVER refered to as the "Knight's Castle"...NEVER. The remains on the Kastro predate the Knights in any case. The information regarding the number of visitors is the commonly accepted estimate backed up by the Council. The number of foreign residents is accurate as of the electoral roll for the mayoral elections last year. The Symi Festival is put on every year by the council and has become important enough in Greece to warrant an issue of stamps by the Greek Post office; any article on Symi should include a mention of it. I repeat...LEAVE THIS ARTICLE ALONE...you are meddling in what you do not know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.185.16 (talk) 23:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I am the author of the above two comments, and have now registered here so as to provide a "signature". In addition to the comments above, I would also like to point out that your insistence on requiring "sources" is risible as there are NO SOURCES quoted for any of the information that is already in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Symi Resident (talkcontribs) 00:08, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, how many times has the title of the article been redirected just today? Can't we just pick a title name and keep it? I mean I was editing the page, and click on submit and it tells me the page was redirected, luckily I saved the information. One it was 2007 Greek fires, the next it was 2007 Greek forest fires, then next it was 2007 Greek Forest Fires? See, what I mean? All I'm saying is let's just pick a name, like the current one and keep it like that. 16:54, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your recent help with referencing citations. I need help with the second episodes after G. Gordon Liddy. I added Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page). and it's not working even though it should. Any ideas?? Thanks FrankWilliams 13:27, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

It seems to be working properly now. Just keep in mind that all <ref name=something> must be case sensitive and exactly the same as the original ref link that created them. 17:33, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Never mind I figured it out. I didn't know how references were using the Also, the edit you did asking about: fixing date, was it not 1986-03-10? NOT 1986-03-104, what's 104???) That was just a typo. FrankWilliams 19:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Infoboxes for Greek villages

Hi,

I addressed your comment about Kefalonia over on my talk page.

I'd like your views on another matter. It's come to my attention that User:Pumpie has been creating "infoboxes" for small Greek towns and villages by simply cutting and pasting code from one page to another. This, as I've just pointed out to him, makes it necessary to edit every single article if general changes have to be made. In addition, he insists on including reference to Provinces of Greece, even though these are for all intends and purposes obsolete. I've asked him to hold off from any further editing of this kind.

Do you think places like Chavriata should have an infobox? If small settlements are to have one, wouldn't Template:Infobox Town GR be more suitable? One way or the other, it has to be made clear to Pumpie that this method of creating infoboxes (i.e. without a template) is not a good idea.--Damac 16:54, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I hate those infoboxes without a template, cause they are annoying. Pumpie should stop, and just use {{Infobox Greek Dimos}} for all those small towns and villages. {{Infobox Town GR}} is going to TFD soon, because it clearly says at the top of the page that it has been superseeded by Greek Dimos and not to be used. And Provinces of Greece are obsolete and don't need to mentioned at all. They no longer have any legal boundry in Greece. In all honesty, if the village article is small and the information is scarce, it's better not to even bother with adding {{Infobox Greek Dimos}} to the page. Chavriata is fine, pages like this are better off with no infobox: Mastichochoria 00:12, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

"Vandalism"?

Before making bigoted accusations like you recently did at Greece, I advise you to look at the available sources. The English language version of the Greek constitution as found on the Greek Ministry of Justice's website calls Orthodoxy "prevailing", not "established". You may also want to check how it's referred to here .--NetProfit 22:44, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough. I assumed the constitution had it as established and not prevailing, but I guess that's not the case. May I suggest you look at: Misplaced Pages:Etiquette. 23:01, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you think you can keep an eye on Germanos Karavangelis. If you check the history you'll see that it has been targeted for some time by various new accounts adding selective quotes (not proper secondary sources) trying to present him as some kind of genocidal maniac.--NetProfit 23:16, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I'll keep an eye on it. 23:39, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Greek results

I removed the figures you inserted into the Greek legislative election, 2007 page. The count is not over, as the source you specified clearly states. As I write, it states that 94.76% of the votes have been counted, meaning the total number of party votes will go up.--Damac 00:53, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

So even if the votes go up you can still edit it. It's not like it's a locked template. They report the elections in the states minute by minute, I don't see why we can't do that for the Greek election. I posted the votes when it was 92% counted, you could've posted the votes for 94% counted, instead of deleting them. 01:03, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Athens

I was really scared by your new message. So this is how you're gonna eliminate other people's constructive thoughts on how certain crucial articles should look like? You'd better take a look at the articles of other major European cities: Paris, London, Madrid, even Istanbul! All of these and many more have many more pictures than Athens as it is now thanks to you, and some have very interesting picture galleries. Whoever sees them gets a thorough picture of the city. Whoever sees the article of Athens on the other hand now thinks that the Stathatos Mansion is the only and the single most important landmark of Athens!I mean, come on, get serious!!!

Your edits are not constructive to the article, so please stop. 22:02, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

OH, I AM TOUCHED! Such a polite and precise way to tell me to stop...You are really very kind.

Ok, the last thing I want to do right now is to quarrel with you. I mean that is childish! Look, I've seen several of your contributions and many of them are really great! But don't you think that our capital deserves a better article in Misplaced Pages? This encyclopedia has become a major tool of knowledge nowadays, with millions of viewers everyday! And contributors, whether logged in or not, strive to do their best and present the places they love in the best possible way. This includes the addition of pictures and picture galleries. Only a few will actually read the article of Los Angeles for instance. Most will get a glimpse of how this city looks like nowadays by seeing and admiring the pictures inside the article, you know that! I've lived in Athens since I was born and I think that pictures is the only way to make people from abroad to comprehend how this great city looks like today. So, please, before going back to history again and "RV Vandalism", take a moment and think how the addition of a few pictures in a mere gallery can really make a difference for all of us, including you...Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.74.151.103 (talk) 22:34, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

WP:AIV

Thank you for making a report at Misplaced Pages:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Misplaced Pages and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. ELIMINATORJR 16:19, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

September 2007

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Athens. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Admittedly, neither of you are really violating it, I don't think, but you are edit warring, and probably need to discuss on the talk page... Gscshoyru 19:14, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

First, I haven't touch Athens at all today. Second, if you're referring to that IP user who evaded a 24 ban, insulted me, and continues to not want to discuss and adhere to what has already been discussed on the talk page of Athens, then you are in the wrong place. Go check the WP:AN3 notice board. That user (85.74.44.243 and the other host of IP's) continues to ignore consesus on the talk page. Goes and reverts through over a month old version of the Athens, page just because he wants to make the page look like a tourist guide/photo gallery, and then wants to insult me and question my reverts of his edits. No FA city page has that many photos and/or has a photo gallery. And even if we tried to discuss the changes the user would ignore them and continue on his vandalistic ways. So either the page need to be protected for some time, or it's going to look like trash after that user is through with it. 19:36, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I know most of that... it just didn't seem fair, even though he's more in the wrong than you are, to warn him, and not you... becuase to be honest, this really is more of a content dispute than pure vandalism, and so the only thing the user is violating (besides personal attacks from insulting you) is the 3RR. So... I warned both users. If he keeps it up, then ask for semi-protection. Gscshoyru 21:10, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

I have blocked editing from this account for 24 hours for disruption on Athens. Be mindful of the three revert rule and discuss disputes on the article talk page. If you wish to contest this block, place {{unblock|your reason here}} . Regards, Navou 17:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Request reason:

I get blocked for reporting 85.74.44.243? I'm upholding the consensus from the discussion on the talk page of Athens, User(85.74.44.243) goes and questions my ethnicity in the edit summary of Athens which is a personal attack and insults me on my talk page (See the Athens section just above the blocked section), evades a 24 hr. block, continues to vandalism and spam the page, and I'm the one who gets a block? This user won't even go on the talk page and discuss it. What is this? I only reverted the page 2 times today. Go and check the edit summary and the differences between the versions, you'll notice that 85.74.44.243's vandalism of the page includes adding images which were removed(from atleast over a month) and text which he is reverting. 85.74.44.243 isn't making clean edits, he reverting from a version he made over a month ago in August. On the 3RR page it says nothing about me, just that User:85.74.44.243 has been block from a posting made by:User:Nishkid64

Decline reason:

User:85.74.44.243 was blocked for the same reason you were blocked – you were both edit warring, causing disruption. The three-revert rule does not convey an entitlement to revert three times each day. Please wait out your block, then engage in reasonable discussion with other editors of Athens in order to create a revision on which everyone can agree. — — madman bum and angel 02:39, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I didn't revert 3 times today (Sept 24). That's the point!!!! I report someone and I get banned, what kind of system is this? I've discussed it on the talk page, did you or Navou or whoever not look??????? And what's up with having to wait an entire day to have your request looked at????? 02:44, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
You weren't blocked for violation of the three-revert rule (though you could have been); you were blocked for disruption. Edit wars make it difficult for users not involved in the dispute to contribute in a meaningful fashion. Please wait out your block, then either discuss your desired changes on the talk page or engage in dispute resolution. Thank you! — madman bum and angel 03:11, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
How was it disruptive, go look at the edits 85.74.44.243 made and you'll notice he reverted text edits made by some other user. I went back and reverted 85.74.44.243 edits which were disruptive. Is that how the system works!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?? 13:29, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

My two cents:

That's 5 reverts in 24 hours. Clearly 3RR. Worse, there was no attempt at discussion whatsoever on the talk page. I understand he was undoing "weeks worth of edits", but it's not an excuse to violate 3RR. Take it to the community in such circumstances. The Evil Spartan 17:01, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

  • I took this 21 SEP edits into account and the recent ones just before the block that were reversions with arguments in the edit summ. This is why I blocked for disruption and not technically for 3RR, although I could have. Content disputes need to be taken to the talk page, and there is of course dispute resolution. Regards, Navou 17:36, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
So am I unblocked now. Next time, I'll take it to the WP:DR. 17:49, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Miami Vice DVD Art

El Greco, the user Arcayne has a hard-on for not allowing dvd cover art which I totally disagree with. I've had issues with this in other articles. I don't see any harm in showing what these covers look like and as long as they are referenced. He keep using using WP:FU as a basis for this argument as well as the need to use "Critical Commentary"; whatever this means as this is so vague and poorly written it isn't any wonder these types of disputes go on. Maybe we should see how to modify this rule so it's not interpreted so harshly by some of these editors. FrankWilliams 17:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
I also added a discussion section at: FrankWilliams 17:52, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

What Frank is calling my 'hard-on' (his interest in my state of sexual arousal - though creepy - notwithstanding) is actually his misinterpretation of a policy occurring here; and his subsequent correction by Bignole. I've removed the DVD images yet again under this argument. Frank doesn't agree with this policy, and that's his right. However, there is a method for challenging policy, and that is to take it to the Discussion page for that policy and argue for a change, you don't break that policy in other articles, hoping to escape notice. I hope that helps explain matters.
As well, I again removed the uncited information regarding the weapons used by other characters in the series. I know you said 'I'm not done', but when you didn't follow up with citations, I reinforced the rules and removed them. If I may answer any questions about my edits, please do not hesitate to contact me either in the Discussion page or on my user talk page. Thanks. - Arcayne () 20:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Talk:RMS Titanic

I noticed the message you recently left to Talk:RMS Titanic. Please remember to try not to bite the newcomers. If you see someone make a common mistake, try to politely point out what they did wrong and how to correct it. Thank you. Referring to calling an editors post vandalism. even if the post wasn't suitable for the page, it's not vandalism. SpigotMap 22:14, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Are you talking about the IP User? 22:22, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, my apologizes. It won't happen again. 22:30, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, not trying to be offensive, just a friendly caution. Editors here, registered or anonymous are considered equal. The post most definitely did not belong on the page, but next time just leave a note like "removed discussion which was not suitable for article talk space". SpigotMap 22:52, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Invitation to WikiProject recruitment for WikiProjects

El Greco,

Would you be interested in trying to make your (proposed) WikiProject becoming a succes by actively involving yourself in a recruitment agency aimed at establishing an active base of participants for a WikiProject?--Daanschr 11:16, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Recruitment project

Welcome on board El Greco,

I have scheduled two kinds of tasks for the moment:

  • Organize the management department in order to make recruitment possible for WikiProjects.
  • Recruiting new participants who can help organizing the management department.

Also, i am thinking about a namechange. Instead of Misplaced Pages:WikiProject recruitment for WikiProjects, it would be better to call it Misplaced Pages:Recruitment for WikiProjects.--Daanschr 12:52, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Athens

El Greco, you have got to understand that I have nothing-and I mean it, absolutely nothing- against you or your ethnicity and you can bet on that! Trust me, I have lots of American friends! Our only difference, which has now managed to become a ridiculous one by many in this community, is a different way of perspective in whether there should be a picture gallery or not! Look, I do not think that the addition of a few pictures in a picture gallery turns the article into a tourist brochure!Lisbon has a picture gallery, Barcelona; the same and look at how many pictures do Prague (which is smaller than Athens) and Istanbul have in their articles! It makes the entire page more interesting, it lures the viewer to actually read it and makes it more representative of the city it describes. That's all!You want the best for this article and so do I and so many other people apart from us. We just disagree on a content issue which I do not even think is such an important one!Why don't you realize that the addition of a picture gallery is not such a big deal-I know lots of people who like it!I would very much like your thoughts on these comments! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.74.109.118 (talk) 21:58, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Image deletion help

Vice Seasons

Can't we change the one at a time?? There's only 5 seasons and it would be nice to go to a season directly from any one of those pages. Perhaps changing the template to "Previous Seasons" and "Following Seasons" FrankWilliams 16:03, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

See {{Miami Vice}} If you would have waited I would have put it in, but now it's in. El Greco 16:13, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry my mind reading abilities are a little off today. FrankWilliams 16:18, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

It's not your fault, but I wanted to make sure the template was right and complete before it went public. El Greco 16:21, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Crockett pic

A quick search of Google netted quite a few results, like here. It could be cropped easily to capture an image. - Arcayne () 19:31, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, how does it look now? El Greco 15:43, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

It looks great. Nice job. I was actually surprised at how few pics there were of Farrell as Crockett. Either they were too dark or seen in profile, whereas Jamie Foxx' mug was everywhere. Again, nice job on the cropping and image size. Photoshop? - Arcayne () 18:01, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Windows Paint actually. El Greco 19:07, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Bond 22

Did you read the citation? Why did you change it back, with wikipedia you have to keep to the facts, the fact that moneypenny and Q aren't in the current version may change. 81.151.93.224 14:44, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Read the quote. As with "Casino," the absence of traditional supporting elements like gadget-master Q and Miss Moneypenny will continue: "Certainly, there may come a point where those beloved characters return, but," Broccoli says, "at the moment, they're not in 22." THEY ARE NOT IN IT. El Greco 15:07, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Athens and vandalism

Thanks for thanking me, El Greco. Sometimes, wikipedia is a bit of an uphill struggle. Any idea who the vandal is, or what his agenda might be? Anyway, if a couple of us watch the article, it should be safe from such nonsense (and we from the 3-times rule). How does one go about blocking someone, if necessary? athinaios 17:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

He's some IP user, whose's been vandalizing the Athens page since about August. The IP user feels that there aren't enough pictures on the Athens page, and that more are need. Read above the 2nd Athens section on my talk page, and the Too many photos sections on the Athens talk page. Which is why I brought the whole third opinion section, because this user kept reverting my edits everytime I tried to remove the gallery. (It was discussed that too many photos were on the page, and one of the quickest ways to get rid of them, was to just take out the gallery.) The IP user doesn't care about the unsourced/unreferenced information on the page, but the gallery. There were more picture than words! Getting him banned is easier said than done. You can get him for 3RR, but becareful you don't go done with him (see the blocked section above - same IP user). The thing is, he's an IP user. Banning his IP address does no good because IP address change. He could register, which would be better, and discuss his actions. The other thing that could be done is to ask for a page protection either semi (prevents IP users from editing the page) or Full (prevents anyone except an administrator from editing the page.) El Greco 18:44, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
I see. How annoying. It would obviously be better to solve this by dialogue, if possible. Is it some misunderstood sense of loyalty to his or her city, I wonder? Let's see what happens... athinaios 19:31, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

free running VS parkour

Hello, Please stop replacing "parkour" with "free running" in the Plot section of the Casino Royale page. I encourage you to read the pages on parkour and on free running, and you will understand an important difference between the two ; Parkour is more efficiency-oriented, namely getting from one place to the next in the fastest and most direct way possible (such as is obviously the case in a chase scene). Free running, on the other hand, focuses more on the artistic, spiritual, and graceful aspect of the sport, incorporating fancier moves such as flips, which are unnecessary during a chase, and which are not featured in the Casino Royale chase scene. Although the actor Sébastien Foucan is indeed the co-founder of free running, he started out doing parkour, and parkour is what he does in this movie. Certainly James Bond is not one to bother with the art of free running. Thanks ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.57.37.132 (talk) 03:07, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Controversy

Mustafa Kemal is however remembered both by Greeks and Armenians as the one who continued and brought into conclusion the process of extermination of the Christian populations of Asia Minor which started by the regime of the Young Turks and culminated in the Armenian Genocide (around 1.500.000 victims) and the Pontian Genocide (aprox.700.000 victims). Moreover Mustafa Kemal is accused by many (see George Horton: "The Blight of Asia", 1926) as the instigator of the Great Fire of Smyrna that destroyed the Greek and Armenian quarters of the city (now known as Izmir) that erupted after the entry of the turkish army at late August 1922 and also for the indiscrete massacre of many Greek and Armenian inhabitants of city, including the Greek Orthodox bishop Chrysostomos of Smyrna who was lynched by turkish mobs and soldiers (see Horton http://www.hri.org/docs/Horton/ and Dido Sotiriou: Matomena Homata -eye witness account). Recently a lot of articles in international newsmedia have explored the issue of Kemal's sexuality, implying that during his early life he was engaged in homosexual activities."
