Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Semi=Protect until November 19. Same thing that happens with every WWE PPV article, mulitple IP's are adding vandalism, along with unsourced rumors and speculation. The vandalism usually stops the day after the event. TJ Spyke 02:19, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

    Sister Roma (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Hot House Entertainment (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Sister Boom-Boom (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protection. I'm not sure what else to do, a single floating IP vandal seems to want to target Sister Roma who works at Hot House Entertainment, the user deletes most all the content and throws up a notability tag on empty article. Both these articles need improving but easily pass notability requirements so hard to see their efforts as anything but vandalism. They obviously have WP experience as well so I'm open to better solution than simply semi-protect if they are a sock or if an IP range block makes any sense. Benjiboi 09:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Added Sister Boom-Boom to list as well. Benjiboi 10:44, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Hello? Could someone please look into this? The pages have been flipped several times already. Benjiboi 13:41, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Note: If you simply sourced the content then there wouldn't be a problem, right? – Steel 13:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
There are numerous users(Or 1 dynamic IP user)in the 72.68 range vandalising these three pages. Two have already been banned, two more requests for ban submitted. Can someone finally protect these pages? Im sick of monitoring them, just to have them vandalised again 30 minutes later. --Excirial 14:03, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
So... what's wrong with sourcing the content? – Steel 14:08, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps the editors working on the articles could source them if they were not so busy reverting the bad faith edits of anon IPs, several of whom have been banned for vandalism. Just a thought. Jeffpw 14:09, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Ah ... no. Let's focus on the vandalism, removing nearly every word from an article then tagging non-notable is not the way consensus works. If you look at the edits apparently every word would have to be sourced, so no, this seems to be pure vandalism, be assured that none of that content is terribly controversial and those articles had been stable. We should also consider that no work to dialog about issues has happened simply reverts of my and an admin's re-addition of removed content.Benjiboi 14:11, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Exactly. What would you think if i replaced an article with a bogus version, and then tagged it for speedy deletion, or non notable? If that is not vandalism, then i don't see any reason to delete swears from an article as such, as that does a lot less damage. Apart from that, the three articles are under siege from an entire IP range. So there are either multiple users attacking it, warranting protection, or there is a single user, that received over 10 warnings already. You cant tell me that 10 warnings + 10 reverts isn't enough to get the message that this is not the way it works. Besides, articles have been protected for WAY less vandalism then this, so excuse me, but i fail to see your point why these shouldn't be protected. --Excirial 14:23, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

(Unindent) This is getting absurd. The articles are now fully sourced and the anon IPs are still deleting the text and slapping notability tags on them. Would somebody PLEASE do something about it now? There are numerous people who have better things to do having to guard these articles. Jeffpw 23:09, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I don't edit the articles, but colleagues at the LGBT Project do and have been severely distressed. I didn't realize how serious the vandalism was until I watchlisted them. Jeffpw 23:41, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

semi-protect for long time. IP-hopping ext-link vandal has returned again as soon as last semi-protection expired. URL-blacklisting doesn't seem to help, since they just keep changing the location of the URL on an apparently open public host. DMacks 22:22, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

    Zebra (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect On the "Stripes" section, someone(s) keeps switching "Zebras are black or dark with white stripes" with "Zebra are white with black or dark stripes" when the rest of the section explains why it is believed zebras have a dark background. This makes the section look contradictary. Bobisbob 16:37, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Interstates in Missouri

As it would be absolutely tedious to list every last page in a separate section, I am listing them all here:

All of the listed articles have been protected contrary to the policy as "vandalism". As the history suggests, they were only good-faith edits by IPs that just happen to not follow the MOS. Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
