KLBC
The inclusion of cable channels in local TV templates are allowed, according to standards set forth here. If you don't like KLBC in the Las Vegas TV template, take it up with them. For now, KLBC stays. -- azumanga 21:14, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Re:Myrna Williams (politician)
The category is going to be changed to Politicians from Chicago, so it can encompass a broader range of people. Just slapping someone into People from Chicago really doesn't explain much (not your fault, I do it too). That category is going to be sorted soon as I can get to it. So, she wasn't a politician for Chicago, but is a politician from Chicago. Thanks for bringing that up so I can start putting the propsal together.--Kranar drogin 23:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

The World's largest furniture wholesale center
Hi,
I have notice that you have change my article title to "Lecong Furniture Market" and for your information I have put up few more references or source from the China Government's website to verify with that claims " The World Largest Furniture Wholesale Center". If you really read it you will notice that the total area of that furniture wholesale market approximately 32.3 million square feet (3 million square meter still expanding) and it consists of more than 200 modern furniture buildings. And with over 18 years of experience in furniture line and visited many international fair & market in Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, Dubai, the United Kingdom, the United States(High Point Market & Las Vegas Conventional Center)and Asia; I can assure you that The world's largest furniture center article is a fact and not advertisement.
In High Point Market's page
World's Largest Furniture Market |
http://www.highpointmarket.org |
188 Buildings |
More than 2600 Exhibitors |
12 Million Square Feet of Showroom space |
More than 100,000 registrants |
110 Countries Represented |
Question??
In terms of size & building qty & space in High Point Market, they're still smaller then China furniture wholesale center in Shunde???
There are many pages in Misplaced Pages claims that the World's largest..., Tallest..., Longest.. without strong references or source... Are they for advertisement purposes too? With references from China government website, Eurobiz magazine and even video of that furniture wholesale market; I think that good enough if to compare with High Point Market ref..two only
I'm here to contribute & share informations that are fact & true. As a senior wikipedian, please be more careful & without bias when change other's page.
I hope you will revert the title back to "The world's largest furniture wholesale center" instead of Lecong Furniture Market.
Thank you.
Felinnchew1
- In a word no. The title for an article it should be the name of the place which is apparently not the The World's largest furniture wholesale center but Lecong Furniture Market. I replied here since you logged on as an anonymous user so I could not reply on your talk page. Lecong may be the largest, but that does not mean that the title belongs in the article name based on the naming conventions. Vegaswikian 20:02, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Lecong Furniture Market2
Ok I agree with you about the naming conventions but the place's name of the wholesale market is Shunde, China Furniture Wholesale Market (name after translation from chinese to english) instead of Lecong Furniture Market because Lecong is just part of that wholesale center in Shunde, China.
Thank you Felinnchew1
Heritage aircraft
Hi! Thanks for adding to my baby article :) I originally planned to write this while preparing a larger article about modern airline liveries into which I could then merge retrojet and Eurowhite. I'd say "retrojet" belongs to both categories as it's a modern livery made to look old. But let's see how this evolves, maybe more people will hop on board :). As for the "late 1990s" reference, I cannot provide any specific source. It's a conclusion I came to while browsing the galleries at airliners.net . "Original research", I know... Cheers! :) --Targeman 19:26, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Actually for Eurowhite and some of the other articles that are see also in this article might be better included in a Aircraft livery article. I think having the bits and pieces that concern livery in one place may actually result in a good sized article. If one aspect grows to a point that it is too large, then it could be split back out. Vegaswikian 19:32, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Exactly what I was thinking of. I'm currently doing other stuff but if you feel like creating Aircraft livery now, please do, I'll join in later. --Targeman 19:44, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Foreign Consulates
Why did you tag the foreign consulate pages of Phoenix, Orlando and Detroit? Each page specifically stats the purpose of them.Daltnpapi4u 00:25, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Consulates
It's government information. if that is the case you might as well put the deletion on for every article about every city. the pages for the consulates just show which foreign governments have offices in these cities. if you want to look at all this countries that have their own pages of where they have embassies you might as well get them deleted to. Just because you dont agree doesnt mean this is the case. Daltnpapi4u 06:28, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Other people seem to think otherwise!!!!!!!
- I'd like to point out that WP:NOT is not a speedy deletion criteria. If you still want these articles deleted, I suggest an AFD. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:40, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Please reconsider your vote at Misplaced Pages:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_July_23#People_by_former_religion
I tried to deal with your stated reason for deletion for Misplaced Pages:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_July_23#People_by_former_religion. Please re-consider your vote based on my edits diff diff. I have made many similar edits and more are to follow. In addition please review my arguments voiced there, among others that we should not remove the category former Muslims etc. because it is not a defining characteristic of some people, though it is for e.g. Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Following the same reasoning we should not delete the category:painters only because it is not a defining characteristic for some people, like Adolf Hitler. Andries 10:44, 29 July 2007 (UTC

Citation templates
Thanks for your comments about templates. Oh, if it were that simple. I find that the templates are a mess and are invariably used incorrectly. They were intended to help editors unfamiliar with referencing. I have found repeatedly that there are errors, multiple errors in most cases, in the use of the templates. When a template shows an error, I uniformly discard it and put in the proper cite entries in a "scratch" cataloguing note. My past background includes 35+ years as a librarian from an era when all library staff were proficient in cataloguing. BTW, the APA template guide that most of the templates use is a clumsy one that is derived from the American Psychiatric Asociation. It excludes some information such as the place of publication as well as places the date of publishing with the author name rather than with the publisher. It also does not have a provision for non-print media, page numbers or ISBN/ISSN information. I recall that university professors made it a rule that new students would use this APA style because it was simpler but the Modern Language Association (MLA) style is still the world's most widely used citation/reference source for research work. That is the style guide I employ with the inclusion of the Harvard Citation style to match the Misplaced Pages reference note format. When you properly scratch catalogue the citation and put in the <reflist> tag, the citation comes up just fine. FWIW Bzuk 05:58, 30 July 2007 (UTC).

Dabs proposal (from Cricket discussion)
I'm not sure where to go to make this proposal. WP:PROPOSALS is for new guidelines. This idea involves a change in user function: a) adding a disambiguation button or b) modifying the Search function to display dabs before other search results. Pendragon39 19:23, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- In that case, see Wikipedia_talk:Disambiguation for topic 16. If I understand correctly, this page is for proposing changes to the dabs guidelines themselves. Pendragon39 19:34, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- An alternative idea might be to give the user a global setting along the lines of 'When I click Go - display the most popular article' or 'Always disambiguate'. I believe its usually better to have choices as some people will prefer the way Wiki behaves now Pendragon39 19:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- It would only display the dabs page if there was one. One could write: For terms with more than one meaning, display the disambiguation page or display most popular article' Pendragon39 20:00, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!
Your comment in the "Naming conventions" discussion was a surprising pleasure to read - glad to see more reason added to the debate. To tell you the truth, I find that the method best adapted to the Wiki media (topic clarity, avoiding conflicts, "which one, which country" location) that would put everyone on the same level ("exeptions") is a full disambiguation for all placename articles - the only place you and I seem to differ is in the use of the comma convention (as I find parentheses make for a cleaner, clearer multi-level disambiguation if it is needed). I'll be the first to move "Paris" if ever this goes through. Cheers : )
THEPROMENADER 23:25, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- I will support you in this. Your method will work as it preserves the traditioinal "city, state" method that so many U.S. contributors desire; "neighbourhood, city, state" and "city, county, state" are not traditional disambiguation, so these methods defeat the very purpose of "city, state" and the comma convention itself. Not to mention that the above comma methods can be confusing from article to article - neighbourhood, or county-disambiguated city? - and when you throw non-disambiguated cities in there, things get even messier.
- After much perusal I'm more than persuaded that political locations should have a treatment of their own on Misplaced Pages - places are places, and their location is important for those looking for them - they should be placed for the reader, for the same reason that people are identified.
- I see a lot of logic in naming all placename articles in the Placename "(Country, stateifneeded )" method - instant identification of the article subject, a lesser need for dab pages (or at least clearer and less onerous ones), and, most importantly, an improved searchability - think of how people look for placenames, especially foreigners).
- I do have one question though - I don't see the logic between your method and "Paris, France" - if you use local disambiguation in one country, you should do it for others as well, no? This would make Paris "Paris, Île-de-France". We can't assume a reader's origins, nor his knowledge of other countries - sorry to poke, but I think that was the very reason for your "Paris, France" suggestion in the first place. What is certain is that I do see that disambiguating locally in one country and with "country" in another adds another unneeded (and perhaps unpredictable) variable to the mix of Wikepedia searching and browsing. THEPROMENADER 07:43, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- "Re Paris v Paris, France v Paris, Île-de-France. This exposes one of the problems with a world wide standard. While in the US and Canada, using a state, province or territory seems to be acceptable for a clear identifier as to the location"
- Ah, but the above depends on the reader's level of knowledge - you don't know France's régions very well, so you're assuming that other English-speakers don't either - but it is wrong to make this sort of assumption, especially for an encyclopaedia. What of people from other countries who don't know the U.S.' states very well?
- I do agree that using a prioritised "local disambiguation" would be a problem - but for the above reasons as well as those of choice/conflict - which is why I propose using Country before anything else: using brackets, any disambiguation above this could be pretty well anything on any level. THEPROMENADER 07:01, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Your capricous and random deletion of the wiki page for Molly_DBO has been referred for arbitration. Pages grow over time. I would have added more information, history and much else over the next few days. Molly is EXACTLY in the same space as Hibernate and many other Java frameworks. You capricously deleted Molly_DBO (by quoting "relevance" as per your opinion) and have left hibernate and other pages entirely alone. Molly_DBO is now entirely deleted, it's simply gone less than 8 hours after the page was initially created even though no spam on it, no commercial endorsement, nothing.
I've removed the arbitration request and as per wiki (be bold) will try creating another page.

Respectfully, adding the Neutrality tag without specifying what sections are not neutral is unhelpful. If you state which sections are not neutral then someone could start writing about them as a whole re-write is beyond the reach, timewise, of most contributors. Cheers. Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad
Thanks for stopping by Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad earlier today. As you probably noticed, there's been a bit of a battle over there with an extraordinarily zealous new editor ... who's just reinserted duplicate sections into the article (again) and blanked the talk page (again). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Pitamakan 03:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Many thanks. Hopefully things will calm down in a bit, but we'll see ... the user has been thoroughly unreceptive to talk page discussion so far. He's also now copied all of his duplicate material into a former redirect page for this article, apparently with the intent of creating a competing article on exactly the same topic, so that will have to be resolved at some point, as well. Pitamakan 12:18, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad has been recreated again. Pitamakan 11:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and reverted the redirect page, leaving a Level 4 warning on his Talk page. Over the last couple of days, this user has meanwhile vandalized my talk page, and made a series of random, largely-inappropriate edits to several articles he noticed mentioned in my Talk page. He's done this both while logged in, and as 98.202.84.191. (I copied the warning to the IP for the Talk page, as well.) Any suggestions would be appreciated -- I'm not sure how these things are handled. At the very least, I'd appreciate if you could extend the lock on Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad for a few more days. Thanks. Pitamakan 21:14, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for all your cleanup last night. Pitamakan 12:58, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Grey Holiday
I notice that you deleted the band's article exactly one year ago. The band's song "Let Go" is currently on the R&R (magazine) Contemporary Christian music U.S. national chart at #16 . Please restore the article either to mainspace or to my second sandbox (User:Royalbroil/Sandbox2). Feel free to wipe my sandbox clean if you wish to keep the article's edit history. Thanks! Royalbroil 04:44, 19 October 2007 (UTC) (WP:CCM)
- Thank you for bringing the article back in my sandbox. I used about half of it. The other half was non-encyclopedic. I have moved the article to mainspace. The band is now #11 on that chart. Royalbroil 04:23, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

DLM AG
Why have you deleted DLM AG? Deletion has been contested and the page should not have been deleted without consultation. Biscuittin 08:18, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think your deletion decision was premature because the article is under construction. Please restore the article, otherwise I shall apply for a deletion review. Biscuittin 08:36, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Lords of France
You have contributed at the CFD for Category:Lords of France here. The subcats have been deleted, and Category:Lords of France is being held for cleanup until Nov 5. I was wondering if you'd like to help with the cleanup, as I don't have a lot of experience prod'ing articles. Thanks, and sorry for the cut-and-paste. --Kbdank71 15:50, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Deletionism
Seeing this edit of yours , I get the impression that your approach to deletion is a bit unwise. Remember to always ask yourself, "is there a convenient merge target" before you CSD an article. About 90% of the articles I see up for deletion could perfectly well be merged into an article with a larger scope even if they lack the notability required to stand on their own. Less deletion, more merging. See also Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Integration. dab (𒁳) 13:32, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Reference fixing
Thanks for fixing the references I added to the Green Valley Ranch article. I didn't realize that I could put the {{cite news}} template inside the <ref> to make footnotes work with the template; I'll make sure to do that from now on. --Sesameball 05:57, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Category:Visitor attractions in Minnesota
This is part of a series of categories of like named categories and it should remain and be populated. Please do not empty categories without a nomination and discussion on WP:CFD. Vegaswikian 21:10, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- I recognized that it is one of the categories from each of the states. That is why I left it as a redirect. But the content was a subset of the vast content in the tourism category, and it doesn't make any sense to me to have a separate "visitor attractions" category. The tourism category gives the reader a wide range of subcategories which include visitor attractions, whether they are historical properties, gardens, amusement parks, churches, etc. In the scheme of "visitor attractions", the category was woefully incomplete, and I think it makes more sense to organize the topic tree more like it is now. Thanks for your interest.--Appraiser 22:00, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Airlistbox
Please do not unilaterally remove content as you did here, especially when you know that this is a format that has been through MfD and extensive discussions on the project that have arrived at consensus. Just because you don't think that it is necessary in every article doesn't mean that it isn't beneficial to the project. There are plenty of editors and readers who find that navigation aid helpful, and anytime we can provide navigational aid to our readership, we've advanced the project. If you disagree with the template's presence, please discuss first at either the project's or the template's talk page. Thanks. AKRadecki 16:53, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Manchester Airport daughter lists at AFD
Hello Vegaswikian, I see you recently put the pages:List of destinations served by Manchester Airport Terminal 1, List of destinations served by Manchester Airport Terminal 2 and List of destinations served by Manchester Airport Terminal 3 at articles for deletion. I have two concerns regarding this: firstly, at peer review editors who had experience at the page were suggested to make edits that would make "daughter lists" out of the destinations served by each terminal by a user who had good experience at peer review; secondly, as on the talk page some of the Greater Manchester WikiProject's participants are trying to make the article into good status, and by doing so need to expand on the article, and therefore IMO need to shorten the lists into {{see also}} or {{further}} pages which can make the article alot more presentable and make the article "less cluttered", without compromising the information. Regards, Rudget Contributions 13:24, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I have closed Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 AFD pages as keep. However, I would like to keep the Terminal 3 AFD as it currently has no consensus. Rudget 17:40, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Jay Dayton Smith House
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Jay Dayton Smith House, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://library.nevada.edu/arch/lasvegas/downtown01b.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 23:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

An application of BIO
I got involved in Mitch Clem at AfD. Can you look at the references and let me know whether you think I'm right on his notability. He is not an important topic, but this illustrates an important application of the BIO and Notability rules. I think that the Minnesota Public Radio spot is just about enough, then the mention in PC World, while not in-depth clearly is saying this person is noticed. The other comixtalk source is marginal, but I think that it adds to credibilty. It appeares that Comixtalk has a blog section, but where he is covered is more akin to an online magazine in a scheduled and dated issue. Cheers! --Kevin Murray 15:35, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
AFD
Hi. I rarely have the energy or time for AfD any more, but I do like to drop in form time to time to see that the guidelines that we work so hard on are being followed and that it is not just ILIKEIT etc.
Like you said: " probably reads too much like an autobiogaphy and could use a good rewrite to improve the tone. The tone could be why it is on AfD". But, theoretically our AfD nominators should be making the choice to post the cleanup tag and asking for better references before tagging for AfD. Of course the battle against vanity spam is herculian and corner are being cut to stem the tide. Cheers! --Kevin Murray 19:02, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment. If you need help on a BIO which looks rough, give me a shout. When I get involved in AfD I generally stick to BIOs, and have spent a lot of time working on WP:BIO and WP:N. Talk to you soon. --Kevin Murray 19:24, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 November 8#Category:University of London External Programme
I just want to say that I agree with the principle expressed by yourself and Otto in that discussion. I only relisted the discussion because of the ambiguity at WP:DPR as to whether a quorum of any kind is required to close CFDs (the policy explicitly states that none is required for TFD, but doesn't make a similar statement for CFD). Henceforth, I will close uncontroversial CFDs where no one has commented and I don't discover any issues with the nomination. This should save a bit of time and make it easier to clear the current 6-day and 85-nominations backlog.
By the way, would you mind having a look at the sole remaining discussion on the daily log for 2007 Oct 28? The discussion has been open for 12 days, and I can't close it due to the fact that I initiated the nomination. – Black Falcon 23:15, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Disambiguation categories
- Misplaced Pages:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 November 2#Category:Disambiguation lists of ships
- Misplaced Pages:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 November 3#Category:Place of worship disambiguation
I have closed both discussions in favour of the Category: disambiguation format. The inclusion of either "lists" or "ambiguous" in the title was rather strongly opposed in both cases, and the Category: disambiguation format garnered the most support.
After closing the nominations, I checked at Category talk:Disambiguation and encountered a possibility that was not suggested in either discussion: Category:Disambiguation (). For instance, Category:Disambiguation (ships). I haven't given it much thought yet, but it may be an option worth considering. Cheers, Black Falcon 00:53, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- That sounds good. It will probably be easier to have a clear discussion if there is more consistency between the categories. Part of the reason for the back-and-forth in these two discussion, in my opinion, was that Category:Disambiguation lacks a clear standard for subcategories. – Black Falcon 02:12, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
